But are we going to have to listen to all of those commercials about German engineering like we do with the Charger? Personally, I'm looking for American engineering.

Probably. It's built on the Charger frame.(Ofcourse).
Same 6.1 425hp Hemi that's offered in the Charger.
I personally like the idea of the Challenger. Atleast it's a 2 door.

Although I was a bigger fan of the Cuda......It's great news to hear!

HCS, I do agree with you on the 2 door point. Hotroddin a 4 door is just not right. And I do think it's great looking car. A Cuda would be nice also but that would require bringing back Plymouth. Or I guess it could be a Chrysler Barracuda?

A good freind bought a Charger SRT8 about 4 mo's ago. Bitchen car. $47k.
Not everybody lives in Baller Ville.
The Challenger will be even more in Srt form I am sure.
Neat thing about Chrysler is soon there will be a v-6 rental car to try out.

Me too. I had a Challenger, back in the day. Well... the 80s, anyway. :D
Back then, I thought the Challenger looked better so I tracked one down.
Now I think the 'Cuda looks better.
Oh well... I'll be lucky to save enough for a down payment on an Accent by 2008 so it's all pie in the sky for me...

I miss my Caravan that would spit out the fan belt when you'd drive through fresh snow. It got to where I could push that bitch back on while waiting for a red light. The dealership checked it out and said it was normal. Dodge didn't fix that design problem for three model years.
Oh yeah... and I liked the way wheel bearings on that thing were a consumable. :D
Yep... nothing like American engineering. I'm sure Benz makes cars that are total crap.
OK... I have to confess... that old Caravan stacked up close to 200K miles before it was totalled off. It wasn't a bad car but it had a few annoying problems and was a stark contrast to the Camry that I had after it.

Actually critics say the original Challengers were very poorly built.

i had a challenger in high school with a 340, then mopars were cheap because everyone wanted the camaro's or nova's, at least at my school. in the early 80's when i was in the Air Force, i had a cuda with a 440, 4 spd that i paid $1500.00. two years later i had a '72 roadrunner with a 383, 4 spd that i paid $1000.00. a good friend of mine restores mopar muscle cars and it amazing to see what those cars sell for now!
anyways... im looking forward to getting one of the new challengers when they come out. :)

Clearly you haven't driven a German car recently...
I just sold my wife's late model Corvette for a BMW 5 series wagon and the difference in refinement, style, ergonomics and quality is staggering.
That Daimler/Chrysler merge was the best thing to ever happen to Chrysler. Probably not that great a deal for the Krauts though... They finally have access to the "K" car technology though.

Just in time for another gas crunch too! Hehe...
That is what killed the last one anyway. I am beginning to think that the Arabs hate musclecars...

True , but they were fun. The powertrain was reliable [ had the 340 with A833 tranny/Hurst comp pistol grip] for me till I've sold it . Bought it in 1972 new and sold it in 1980 .The paint quality was poor and the sheetmetal was thin. I just caught the problem before started to rust some places , so I removed the vinyl top and repainted the whole car .
