any one know of a company that will insure my jet? its a 18' Hardin Marine with a 468, They said it was because of the speed of the boat and because it has an open engine. All i want is liability and no one will give it to me! Any help would be appreciated!

Use/find a broker... they know what to say and how to say it to the insurance companies. my boat costs me 100 a year to insure.. (liability)

First off how can you tell them how much horsepower your motor puts out without it being on a dyno?
How can they tell if there is no markings on the motor? like an outboard that says 200 merc on it?
Besides just tell them its a low (horsepower) motor but has loads of torque!
Most insurance companies do not care about torque.
I am through State Farm and have had no problems, I have a open engine compartement OT headers, and a daytona hull! All my insurance guy needed was a value which I set and he gave me a price on that value. Also there is a $300k liability attached to it. All that for about $17 a month, he even took pictures and sent them in and the underwriters said no problem.
I do have a 0 accident rate and I do not drink so maybe that helps too.
Good luck hope you find one

That's about the worst thing you can do....don't lie to your insurance company, it's called fraud. When you need to file a claim and they deny you, you'll know why - if you're going to lie, you might as well not have insurance at all.

the boat is mid 60's , havent had a chance to get it on the radar on perfect conditions, but aparently since the boat is in my dads name because i am not yet 18 years old, his driving record comes into play, which sucks because you cant get much worse than his driving record, but i need some liability soon because i dont want to run it until i get it insured

If you dont have a boaters safety certification yet I suggest you get one.
When you talk to the insurance company tell them about the boaters safety certification before you tell them about the boat. This may help.
But with your dads bad driving record and your young age you may never find insurance without committing fraud on the application.

Here we all thought it was just the insurance companies being jerks. Sounds like you're going to be dry for a while.

I'd have to agree with this statement. You can bet that if something ever happens, they'll be looking real close to see if there's any mis-representation.

You may also want to contact BRE on the boards. It sounds like she is now working for an insurance carrier that will insure high performance boats. It never hurts to ask...

reads like you're learning a valuable lesson...the best way from other people. Not all bad. You'll be 18 soon enough and you already know the value of a clean record. Congrats. I didn't learn until waaaaay to late.

Drive (Progressive) will insure a boat with overtransum headers, if the boat will not go faster than 75 MPH. Don't know how the bad driving record affects things.

i have my boaters safety, since i was 8 actually, and they dont have to lst me as a driver (the insurance companies would turn me down instantly) because it would be like letting someone else drive your car, you dont have them listed but they are still covered, and i do deal witha broker who has gotten eveything else insured for us, they've insured all kinds on other stuff, motorcycles, boats, cars, and i think they even insured my dads front engine dragster but they dont seem to like this boat much and i got a letter in the mail today saying yet another company turned me down, i might have to wait until my dads driving record is clean in february  but i turn 16 in 2 months and then they can at least list me as a driver then

20ft. 0 to 70 in a hic-cup.
Keep it honest, discovery later on may deny your claim.
