Neither the boat nor the pump care which way it is balanced. The engine must be balanced correctly for the parts used. If I'm not mistaken the early 460 had internal balance and the late ones were external. Lakes or 058 could clarify...

Neither the boat nor the pump care which way it is balanced. The engine must be balanced correctly for the parts used. If I'm not mistaken the early 460 had internal balance and the late ones were external. Lakes or 058 could clarify...You will need the weighted flywheel or flexplate and the weighted crank sleeve [the thing that goes on the crank before the balancer] All 460s from 1979 and later are externally balanced and all 429-460s from 1968 to 1978 are internally balanced. That Craigslist engine is most likely set up for passenger car or pick up truck use and most likely has tight bearing and piston clearances and cast pistons, not what you want for a boat.

No such luck OC. the upper forward gears broke a tooth and jammed between gear and case locking it up= ujoint coupler exploded. so far lower seems ok and shafts ok. getting prices on uppers and have a heavy duty shaft with bigger ujoints already.. just for fyi as we had talked..... my upppers are straight cut gears. they are the stock xr I think???? those gears werent replaced last time, so it looks like all the new stuff I did has held up..
my shafts and lower 1.25 gears were new and they seem ok

Ken if your lower was contaminated by the debris from your upper you could have some problems in the near future. Make sure that they check your lower real well before they send it back to you. Anyways you put alot of well used hours on that drive, looks like it held up pretty well for the power that you throw at that drive. Hope it gets back together soon and your back on the water for the trip, hell who am I kidding I hope I am back on the water for this trip!

Doug is hoping everything will be back together by this time..... its currently apart, parts ordered and some on way and some work started.... I am looking forward to seeing it when its done........ that Jaq is one tough ass boat to take that hit and come thru as well as it did...... I hate to think what would have happened if we had been in a lesser constructed hull.....

Thank you everyone. WE had talked about doing it last week in Vegas, but we got too much crap from our families, so we moved it to Tahoe. I would have much rather done it in Vegas. Dave, she's had all the chances she's going to get to run. She's stuck around, so it's all good. Joe, didn't get much of a Bachelor party, my buddy had one last Sat, and as far as invites, we're keeping it pretty small. Dirk, no puking, I'm always the 1 who get's stuck driving, so I kept myself pretty healthy Sat night. Besides, I was in the city, so I was doing some practicing covering my ass and making sure it was exit only beings I knew this trip was coming up, and the company we keep. Doing fine here. Took the boat out last week and she ran fair, after replacing the missing vacuum cap off the carb, no more stumble :crossx: . I could only get 5500 RPM, though.

After you go past the lagoon w/ the island, and around that large point in the middle of the lake on the West side, stay to the left heading north, and you'll see it. This is a stupid question, but does anyone know if the sites at Steele Park have hook ups? I need to know weather I need to go up there tonight and get the trailer to charge the battery, or if we'll have electricity hook ups. We keep our trailer just past the right turn you make to head to Steele Park, and I really don't want to have to run up there tonight, and also have to take 2 trucks tomorrow to get the boat and trailer up there. At the R-ranch. Just down the road from corners before you get to turtle rock. I leave my trailer there in an RV spot. I got a good spot so I don't like to move it.
We can party with you guys during the day until it gets dark then head out.

I know R ranch well. My dads band used to play up there in the early 80's, besides, his bosses family owns all the property from the corners up to it. KNow it Very well.
I don't have my spot yet. We were waiting to see how we were after the wedding to decide if we were going, so I'll call tonight and get a spot. I'm sure we'll have no problem finding everyone.
Terry, if you still wanted to camp in our spot, let me know. It's still open...

just got back from folsom...... drive seemed to be ok.... Keith at mid range it actually was a little faster, but I think it was the temperature that probably made the difference...... ran it up 4500 rpms was doing 86 and only did 84 with the imco...popped a 101 some wheres between 5000 and 5200 rpms... drive didnt get hot or anything, seems to plane about the same..... have to play with trim a little and see what happens....... I had my old junk beat up 30 prop on it and I didnt wot it, so I dont know if I can still pull 6k rpms with the bmax .... so saturday looks good see ya there
still have a loose wire somewheres I think.. the motor cut out 2x and my gps went wacko... this happened before and all the gauges would bounce. I tightened all the grounds I could find before and this is 1st time since its done this.... have to check the power lead on ignition next... any one have any other ideas while im crawling around under and behind everything???
