Ballast Resistor for the ignition coil. find it at any parts store :)
C.T.

It's a ballast resistor for the ignition. Reduced power goes thru it when key is in "run" position. I usually get them at the auto parts for a Ford, 1965 or so.
I'll edit this cause I got interrupted by the boss. What a PIA. Anyway: Ford B/R is a fixed resistance, Chrysler Corp B/R is variable, because they didn't use a B/R bypass circuit, and resistance increases after a few minutes run time to full value. Either one will work.

autozone carries it but not sure the length of the wire i dont have a tape measure is there any way to figure it out by looking at it? think there was two types a 49" and a 61" i think it 61 but not sure.

Sounds like autozone is trying to sell you a resistor wire, sorta like GM uses in the older systems. If you used the wire type, you would have to figure out where to put it to keep it safe, since it would replace the ceramic one you currently have. Mercruiser used the 49" in their older systems. For the ceramic type, try Wells PN AL795 there at autozone.
