Does anyone know what the story is on the unfinished hotel (or at least that's what it appears to be) that's a few miles south of Laughlin? I've always wondered and no one that I've asked seems to know...

Whoever was building it went bankrupt or just plain ran out of money. Eventually something will take it's place. Just a matter of time.

From what I heard from the locals the contractor ran off with a huge chunk of change and was never found. The building needs to be torn down because all the exposed steel is rusted to a point of now return. Don't know if it is true but that is the story from the locals.

It was part of the Savings & Loan scandal of the 80's. When the scandal hit, construction stopped. Don't really know the particulars, though I've been told a few times & was too drunk to remember. My buddies house is across the water, staring straight @ it.

Interesting. I suppose there is more than one stroy. I heard Asian investors would not play nice with the gaming commission and were denied a license so they walked.

It's scheduled to be demo'd this year.
When the S&L and Junkbond debacle hit some time ago, the construction cashflow stopped.
I think it was to be called Emerald Shores or something along that line.
It's been rotting away for over a decade now.

Per the bartender at Harrah's:
It was recently purchased by the same rich folks that are building the new bridge just south of Harrah's. The dead grass golf course there will be developed also.
That really cool palacial estate that just got finished over by the new river marina, belongs to the one of the Clinton's executive secretary.
I won a video poker jackpot and tipped accordingly, so I don't think he was bs'in. Regardless, entertaining to say the least.

Its off the River Road of death. If one goes through Bull Head then you would never see it.
I remember when they were building it. Back in 1985-1986 or so I think.
I was told the same thing S&L Construction loan issues of the late 80's. It's Wicked looking in the middle of the night with a full moon rising up behind it.

Eyesore..........I always wished I had the dough to buy that parcel.....I was probably only a few mil short.
We had a similar iron monstrosity sitting empty for years like that in Carlsbad....Owls started nesting in it, protected types I guess....Anyhow, the frame got nicknamed Little Beruit because it looked like a bombed out building.
After many years it got bought and developed, its now the 4Seasons resort and Aviara Golfcourse.......slight change from what it looked like at one point, thats for sure.

Thanks for all the responses.... The whole thing is just eerie looking and I noticed that it showed up in the background of almost all of the pictures I took on the water last weekend.
