I posted this in Tow Rigs section, but time is of the essense, so I'm trying again here.
My (stock Ford) 6 disc in dash CD changer is jammed.
This has happened before, but usually the cover plate opens up and I can stick a small screw driver in there and lift the disc a little bit and the disc will usually just pop out. Although its a little tricky pulling this manuever off at 75 mph while pulling the boat, it hasn't happened often enough for me to be concerned. Now the face plate won't lift up and I am hesitant to force it, but I am leaving for the river manana and that is a long drive with no tunes...
Any and all help will be appreciated and I'll buy the first round when I see you out there. :rollside: Thanks in advance!

Spray about 1/4 can of WD-40 in the slot.

I'm glad to know Stacy's expedition isn't the only one that does it.. What a pain in the ass. Usually only happens when it's really hot out, and on Disc # 6 for some reason.. I've stopped putting # 6 in the changer when were going to the river. Not worth the headache.

Yes, go aftermarket and get an iPod, what are you still doing messing around with CD's anyway. :)

CD's still sound way better then an Ipod.

True, but how much better in a stock Ford sound system? The only time I listen to the CD's are in my house, for the boat and the car, the iPod is good enough.

I'm a single dad w/ 3 kids and a boat...I can't afford an iPod. Guess I'll have to borrow my sons...

Looks like you'll need a good size framing hammer, perhaps a nice crowbar will do.
Should fix it right up.
Just trying to help.

I went over to the Ford Enthusiast website and looked it up. Sounds like a bad head unit. I hope my extended warranty covers it and my CD's aren't trashed. We'll see...

If you have the Premeium warranty it should cover it, on the other hand If your deductable is 100.00 I would rather throw another 100.00 or so and get a Alpine or pioneer that has all the new shiat on it mp3 ipod sat ready...wait but then you will want a amp, sub new speakers, at least thats what happened to me. Now the truck sound better then the boat.

If you tried towing a 32 foot Eliminator with that Porsche from Florida to California, I bet you could raise enough money for a new one.

My F-350 did the same thing, but only when it got hot. As bad as it may sound, push eject and slam a fist down on the dash, that used to get mine out of there. It finally did take a dump and was covered by Ford, the 2nd then took a dump and I replaced it.

here's what you do: jack the cd player up, move the ford and replace it with a chevy :D then the cd player will work

Ford doesn't work on their own stuff.. There is a place in san diego that does all the factory repairs in this area... If I could only remember the name....

That's funny shiat...Too bad my Chevy (Z71) was a bigger POS that I traded in for the Ford. Maybe it's my Karma for dumpin' a GM product on someone else instead of burning it to the groung. :yuk:

when I buy a new truck, the first to go is the stock stereo system and I'll install a Sony head unit.

Thanks RR. How long did it take to get er done? I hate to be out of my rig for 3 days while they muck around with it.
under warranty still????
Ya, 5 yrs 100K miles. I'll be O.K. on the miles and I have until next year 'til it expires. It is an after market warranty that I got thru the credit union when I bought it. I think I can take it anywhere to be fixed. Anybody else familiar with this?
