Damaged housing from Thrust Bearing Failure

Here is a pic of damage done to the housing from my thrust bearing failure:

It looks to me like there is enough smooth surface for the grease seal to seat OK, and enough of a lip to hold the thrust bearing in place. The channel from the zerk is clear and functional, guess it will just hold a little more grease now. :rolleyes: Any thoughts??

Here is a pic of the damage on the wear ring side. Seems like it took less of a hit there - I think it was probably only run slowly for about 2-3 minutes after the bearing failed.

When my bearing failed it was the other end of the impeller that tore things up. The thrust should've pushed the impeller forward, not back.......Looks like you may have gotten lucky, considering what could've been wiped out...MP

Unless I am confused (which can never be ruled out :notam: ) Post #5 shows the suction piece/wear ring area with the wear ring removed,
fortunately with not too much damage to the housing.
Even more happily, on the "other side" of the impeller (inside the bowl) there was no damage at all! :) .
