What kind of dogs do you guys have ?? My girlfriend wants to get a dog and I have only had Pit Bulls and she would like something a little smaller and not so dangerous. So just thought I would see what kind of dogs you guys enjoyed as companions.

If you like pits but need something smaller try one of these. My waife and I have 4 male pitbulls and we thought if we did not have them or we wanted a smaller dog to get one of these. They stand about 14inches to the top of the shoulder and weigh about 25-30 lbs. As far as being mean any dog can be mean it's all in the training.

I was in the same position as you 2 years ago, I've only owned big dogs until g/f talked me into a mini-dachshund (weenie)....and then another. Little dogs are easier to deal with travel with etc etc,(we live in a small apt.) BTW, our older one (11lbs.) would do more damage to a burgler than any of my big dogs would have had the balls to LOL :crossx:

Right on! What's up? Yes she is always curly down her back to the end of her tail even when dry. A day care facility thought she was a chesapeake bay retriever! Alley looks great, Roxy is at 50 lbs., we are off to the river again this weekend!

We thought Roxy was a bit small, but sounds like she is ok. My neighbors lab in 110 lbs(2 years old), I think were looking at more like 70-75lbs.

We have a Jack Russell Terrier/Corgi mix (best dog ever!! waiting for dog clone technology to keep her around!) Small, short legs, always watching her people (great family dog)...will wake up at any minute if someone moves to keep them company. Extremely smart and easy to train, and loyal.
Careful, they're hunters though, if you live with neighbors with cats, she'll do anything to chase them...and not fond of water like labs.
My daughter also got a purebred Jack Russell (shorty), short hair, short legs; 'energizer bunny' in a dog when first awake, but so much fun to play with, easy to show tricks, loves to snuggle too.
...think 'My Dog Skip' movie ... or the 'Kramer' dog.
Like you, we always had big dogs outside...never again, a small inside dog is much more sociable/family friendly and fun to tease/play with all the time. I think a JRT is a great couples dog (lovable for her, but spunky/fun to play with for him and kids).

I have a yellowlab/chow mix. She's the best dog ever! We just got back from her first ever lake trip. She LOVED it. Unfortunately her water time was cut short (but she did learn to tube and can't stay out of boats). 3 days into our 2 week trip she ran up to me with what looked to me to be like some sort of animal bite. I, being in the the middle of nowhere and knowing that bears, wolves, and cougars on occassion visit our property, frantically called the neighbor to get the number for the local vet. Turns out, she got a "hot spot". Had never heard of it but she'll be fine. Lots of antibiotics and topical spray. But they had to tranquilize her and give her all sorts of shots. I cried...yes...loser me.
I adopted her 3 months ago...who know you can could get soo attached.

I got a 9 year old female...very sweet dog to people...but turned into an alpha around age 2 or 3 with every other dog around. She whips up on the Rott at least 3 times a day. One of my favorite breeds but I wouldn't recommend to anyone without 5 acres, a good vacuum cleaner, and neighbors outside of woofing range. Really an outside dog.
The 2 easiest dogs I've every had is a golden and currently an aussie/blue healer mix...The dog basically takes care of itself...you only gotta open the bag and open the door two times a day. The golden was a great lake/party dog...she even had good taste in girls to hit on at college parties.
Also got a 14 year old Rott/lab mix...very smart dog but a real pain in the ass. Sneaks trash and has eaten at least 10 doors.

Must be a responsible dog owner to own a pit bull otherwise you are asking for trouble, always on a leash and lots of excercise and love are key.

Purebred Jack Russell Terrier, Molly has A LOT OF ENERGY and loves running, digging, barking, attacking bubble wrap and chasing my hand everywhere. She is VERY SMART, has a very large vocabulary, and very able to figure shit out. She is 9 now and has settled down a little but is still very active. She gets very defensive if you try to take her biscuits or food. She can be a bitch sometimes but I love her to death.

I still can't believe ours get along so well. When I moved in I brought my little one into the house w/the 2 big dogs & we never had one problem with them. She's very much in tune to the fact that they are three times her size but they all get along great. :)

Alot of Game Bred APBT are small, 20 to 40lbs max, the Staff line is used for show, I have never heard of this breed, is he registered under AKC or UKC or ADBA. I like the looks of him, if I wanted smaller I would probably go with a Bolio dog from Pat Patrick, they are tearing up the 3rd world right now....If you get my drift.
