What Outboard Do I Have?

I know that this sounds funny, but I do not know what type of outboard is on my boat. I bought the boat last week. It is an 1989 18' Galaxie. The guy selling it had no idea what the motor was, he did not even know what the 150 meant on the engine cover (even I knew what that was). Anyways, I put it on the water today and the thing runs unbelievably smooth and very fast. The engine cover says "GT150 V6" and was painted to match the boat. I would appriciate it if anyone had an idea as to what type of motor it is.

The GT designation makes it sound like an Evenrude but this is in contrast to earlier information. :idea:

If it says gt150 on it it's most likely an Johnson. Post a pic or email me one and I'll tell you for sure.

would not be surprized (even seen a johnson cover on a merc and vice versa) then I finally heard he painted the cowl the boys changed his nickname to zebra !!!!
