Duramax LLY race boat
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pics of the boat getting the twin LLY's.
Most info is sorta classified at this point. Obviously twin chargers as shown. Plenty of cutting edge technology went into this project.
It should run ok. ;)

Are those twin inline centrifugal superchargers?

What kind of drives will it have??

Look like twin turbos to me. That MTI should get after it!!! :D :D :D

You mean "drive." Single engine deal with twin superchargers. You can see the rigging in the center - but no lower unit.

Hey Frank, stick with little boats. It's a twin engine with a center rudder, which is the hardware you're seeing in the middle of the tunnel. You can see the drive shafts for the props coming out of the notches on each side, surface drive setup, so there isn't a lower unit. The starboard side is very easy to see, the port side is somewhat obscured by the chair. ;)

Never mind me...I am working on about 2 hours of sleep. :D
Oh, and I will always stick with the little boats... I AM NOT A SELL OUT. slut. :D

Yea, I saw the shaft on the starboard side....just wondering what kind of surface drive....

It's classified. I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you. ;)
If I had to guess I'd say it's a BPM system, but without closer pics it's hard to say. I do know that only about half the setup is in place in the pics.

I have also read that a built up LLY can be spun up to 4,500+ rpm. Should work nice.
The turbo arangement looks like a compound setup. One feeding the other but the pic is to small to tell. Interesting.

I wonder if dog is going to chip those things to double up his horsepower.

Yes , they are a compound setup. Arneson drives. 1300+ ft/lbs. all day long.

I dont undrestand how a Diesel would work in a performance boat, seem like the RPM range wouldn't be high enough....i always thought a high reving motor is what you need?

I think the key word here is "transmission"

This one runs low 70's with modest power. Interesting and talk about a bullet proof set up!

Liquid Courage, very interesting. 70's? The ad claims 420hp. Just for conversation sake, I wonder what 750+hp and 1300+ft/lbs would do? All day long.

The owner of ATS ( advanced turbo system) here in Denver had his duramax at the truck pull last night. 800 hp and 1700 lbs of tourqe. Not sure on the rpm but did not sound like much. I was way impressed.

You're talking a cat too. And since that's the old Tommy Bahama boat, I assume it's a light lay up for racing. That OL is a heavy mo-fo too. A/C full cabin with head adn 300 gal's of fuel!

That things gonna move. Those MTI's aren't exactly slow hulls :D

420 hp x 2 = 840 hp.
Twin Catapillars (one with only 20 hrs  ) wonder why? the other has 200 hrs.
Doesen't really matter, I only wish I could buy it.

It is all relative, most gas motors dont have the torque to turn a larger prop, or grab a higher gear, if you have the torque to turn it you sure as hell dont need the rpm. Think about it like this, cruising down the highway doing 90mph and only turning 2100 rpm, its all in the gearing.

What would be the weight difference as compared to a blown gas motor? Does anything need to be done to the hull to compensate for that change? Looks sweet except I would have me a pair of Cummins with twins :D but the LLY's look cute I guess. :D
