for those of you who have been following my project, here's where it's at as of tonight. It's finally coming together.
Here's a mock-up of the transom adapter, pump and steering (with exception of that droop...I'll be changing that) This was last weekend.

This is as of tonight. The transom adapter, suction, pump braces, tunnel plates, etc. are done, instaled, sealed...permanento. Impellers are installed, clearanced, ready to go. Still waiting on the "droop", then I can finish the steering.

That is looking focking great bud. But on to my noobie question. What is that billet looking piece on the front of the pump? And what exactly is a jetaway? Sorry to steal your thread :DNo worries. That billet thing is the Jetaway, which is a ratcheting device that allows the pump to freewheel in case of an engine lock-up. It can also be used as a neutral for trailer running, and not spinning the pump.

Thanks 3 D's...I'll be proud when it floats. :D
Blown428, that's another part of the pump brace. Kind of an afterthought...that's why it isn't painted or polished.
Poncho...not sure what I'm doing for a droop at this moment. I have a couple ideas.
Shaun, I bought some alum. angle and made it. I'll see what I can do about some better pics for ya. :D
Thanks again for the compliments.

So is the calgo steering like the old sail boat steering?? Its a cable wraped around a hup, It pushes and pulls in both directions? I need a steering set up for my project... how much???( why do I have the feeling like its going to hurt...)

SC,
Your project is looking great, very well engineered and fabricated as expected. What factors did you use to calculate the correct engine placement in this application? Also, are you planning to run some type a pop-off valve?
Again, great job

:rolleyes:Thanks Chris.
I have no life...my life is boat.
Must finish....must keep going...must not give up... :rollside:
BAE...thanks. I know you can appreciate the time invested. AFA the engine location, it's just going a little ahead of where it was before.
A pop-off isn't in the immediate future, but I movd the intake out far enough to add one later if necessary.
YellowBoat...that's the basic idea of the Calgo. Push-pull cable. "Bout 800 bones gets you one.

Thanks Mares, that would suck having to sand in that kind of heat...at night! I sweated my a$$ off here in the 80's!
CS...you're right. The calgo is pul-pull. My bad.
This week I made the other pump brace, installed the steering helm and inner cables, steering hub and wheel, made the other pump brace, battery hold down, and finished up some electrical.
Today the motor goes in, and hopefully by the end of the weekend, I'll have all the plumbing done.
My ignition won't be here untill Monday, and the throttle from Lightning maybe wednesday.

Hey Steel, Matt here. I'm somewhat of a newbie. Thanks for posting up such detailed info on your build. It's always informative (to me, at least) when guys get into the details of what they're running as well as their reasoning behind the choices.
My 509 makes around the same power as your engine (w/ a 150 shot & pump gas) and I'm wondering what fuel pump you plan to run?
Thanks again & good luck getting your boat ready for the Tour.

Because of the high compression, I have to run two starters, and they have to run with two seperate flex plates.
Naw, J/K. It's a reflection.

Hi new to posting just wanted to say (hope you keep a spare fuel pump with you) I have been let down by the new holley black fuel pumps to many times in my drag car. They sure dont make them like they used to.I made the switch to BG. And no it is not a good idea to mount that pump on its side if it leaks the fuel can run to the elec. wires  just my .02.your set up is to sweet to have it turn black from fire smoke
