I've been searching for some info on the motor I
just pulled from a 74 Kona Jet & I'm running out
of places to look. It's a 454 w/ 14015445 block,
6272990 heads & GM 399295 pistons. It has a
steel crank & a solid lifter cam. It has Indmar
wet logs & a Indmar sticker on the left valve
cover. I can't find any info for this motor
through Indmar? The bearings even have GM
part #'s on them. The boats been sitting for
a good many years & needs a rebuild. Can you
guys point me in the right direction???? Thanks
for your time in advance!!!!

You can look up casting numbers at MORTEC (http://www.mortec.com/)

I know the heads are the large valve rectangle ports. Pick up the book "How to rebuild your big block chevy" it has some of these numbers and lots of other good info for your rebuild.

Thanks for the info!! Does anybody know where
to get the info for GM pistons? I have all the
GM parts catalog, but these pistons don't
show anywhere? I'm trying to figure out the
C/R of the heads/pistons........

I'm trying to figure out the
C/R of the heads/pistons........
try this:
head c.c. + gasket c.c. + d.c. c.c. + swept volume (displ.x 2.0483)
_________________________________________
c.c. in head + c.c. of gasket plus d.c. c.c. = max compression when all minimum measurements are used
formula taken from a NHRA rule book chart
i hope this might help
