Strut collar

Will running a strut collar on the shaft ahead of the strut be bad for the strut bearings?I'm looking at the Glenwood tapered collar.

It will prevent water from flowing to the bushing, I would replace the fibre bushings and make some Turcite bushings if I had to run one of those!..
