View Full Version : Plan "B"

What is it?
I propose two different places.
Modesto Reservoir
Lake Berryessa
Modesto has a great launch ramp and the cove for people that want to just hang out.
Berryessa has a huge ramp and more room to put in and pull boats out.
I think plans need to be made for one of these alternate places.
I am gonna ask Oxbig and Hoofhearted

Is their enough water to run on the North shore of CFZW?
BBT, you were their what's the deal.
If this deal needs to move, JBG is correct, plans should happen pretty quick.
I don't care I'll drive anywhere to stand on the beach, hang out & watch boats.
Wait a minute, aw screw it. :p :p

Putah Creek has Hotels also. So the poor people like us that don't have a motorhomes to stay overnite in can stay if they decide to have a cold one or two.....Bar & restraunt too...with restroom facilities.. Oh yeah, and 058 said he was gonna be there... There never many boats out there New Years and there's tons of water...

You Can Launch at North Shore...No prob. You'll be able to launch at South Shore on 12/30 when they open it....no prob. The water....that's another story. As of right now, there is no way in h@ll i'd put any of my boats in there. The little bit of water that's in there has obstacles sticking up. Definitely not for high speed cruising

I think there will be water in CFW...Enough to run anyways. Still got over a month to see how much water ends up in there. Another 15-20 feet would about double the current lake size and leave room to run. I prefer CFW because the water is smoother. Berryessa tends to get a bit rough.

It is fun to sit around and bench race in the cold but, it is tradition to put your boats in the water and race them. There are no hassles at Modesto nor are there hassles at Berryessa on these ***boat weekends. If CFW has adequate water then we will be there with boats in tow. If not, we will be where the water is. I am hoping BBT brings is new boat out play. Have we got a report from Mullett mountain?

CFW Update. Water table is over double what it was in Oct. and still rising. You can run all the way up the river. The old floating gas station at South Shore is about 25' above the current water level. Water has went up 3' since YESTERDAY! according to the manager there... Getting ready to release water from Rollins, which will be held in CFW, and, most important....Manager at CFW said there will definitely be water in the cove by Jan 1st.

Note**
A chart is worth a Thousand Words.. That chart is a bit misleading....ya gotta compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges. Look at the water levels for October if you are gonna compare to October. If you look close, you'll see that Oct. is the dryest month, and it starts increasing. Based on how full Rollins is, and the upcoming water releases, I'd estimate that there may be somewhere around 90000-95000af by January 1st. In comparisan, Jan 1st 2002 had 97600af

Sounds good to me...hopefully with some positive numbers. Actually, it wasn't that bad out there today. Only 3 boats on the lake, 2 families camping/fishing on the shore, and lotsa room for me to run. If Jan. 1st was tomorrow, I'd go to CFW. That's how nice it was out there today. On the brighter side, there's lotsa room for camping with the lake being so low :D but you'd have to fight off the cattle that were grazing where the lake used to be eek!
LOL

How was the south ramp?

BigBoyToys
11-23-2002, 06:39 PM
Hey smalls, technically, there is no "ramp". The "ramp" at CFW is actually an old road that goes all the way across the lake. When they built the dam, it went under water. But yes, I did launch from the North Side and I did also check out the South "ramp" both are in useable shape and in the water... :)
I kinda like the way that works out, no matter what the water level is, high or low, you always got a good paved surface to launch from.
