Hey Corleone,I was curious how much you might want for the thru trans. set-up? I have no boat parts to trade :( Let me know :)
Thanks, Mike

Yep! For the beater boat. It's to loud for as slow as it is.You know, either loud and fast or slow and quiet.

Corleone, Seems like its hard to get a answer to your original. I would like to see what setups some of the fast cruisers from the west coast have. We don't have much to compare to here on the east coast. I started with a 21' Howard with a 9deg shaft with the strut barrel 17" from the transom and about 525 hp and a turbo 400. It ran about 80 mph and rode like a Jersey Skif. I added a blower and got into the low 90's but it was a handful. Added more power, 547 ci, and it was lifting the transom and bow steering. Probably lucky for me, a prop blade came off and jerked the strut nearly off. At that point I decided to make some changes, so I talked to a few people and decided to go with a 7.5 deg strut with the barrel 23.5 " from the transom and closer to the bottom. This moved the V-drive 13" forward. This is probably not the ideal setup but after adding an intercooler and Lightning headers and with 11 lbs boost and a 2 blade 11 3/4 x 16 prop with 48% gears the thing has gone 109 mph, and handles pretty good at that speed. At one point I had been told you couldn't stop these boats from chine walking. This thing is fun now.

C17:
I have 1.29 gears and a 3 blade 12/14 prop, I've had it around 80 on GPS with out pushing too hard. Last week at Parker I aired it out a bit more pushing it against the rev limiter at 6K and pulling about 14 pounds of boost. My guess is that I was in the upper 80's as I didn't have the GPS with me. It was nice!
I plan on changing the prop to a 12/15 and going to 1.37 gears. This should give me a little better top end and a lower cruising RPM.
Thanks for the into to Walt.
