I Was just wondering if any of the guys from this site will be at the APBA Nationals in Hampton, Virginia next weekend. It should be a great show with SS, PS and K boats, along with several hydroplane classes racing for National Championships. I'm coming down with Mike Thompson and his Temptation hull Janet's second Choice Canam/PS 41, the 2004 National Champion I believe(pictured below). We are leaving Thursday Morning and am hopeing some of you guys are going to make the trip. Looking forward to meeting some of you. Tim Canam-10

That cockpit is similar to the one in my Starfire. Is it a Henderson? THe boat looks good. Does it handle well? Good luck this weekend!

Kip,
Not 100% sure who built the capsule. I believe Mike had it put in by someone down there in region 3 after his Son took this little ride in Valleyfield a couple years ago(picture below). The boat handles very well. It does not seem any different than my Team Biesemeyer hull but than It shouldn't. Mel builds a very nice hull and his mold was taken from Angelfire another team boat. Truitt is running the last narrow boat Mel built I believe. Mel still has a new wide hull with a Mike Smith/Huge Monhan capsule in it he built for his Son that I think he will sell. His Son got transfered to the Bahama's or one of thoes island and will more than likely be down there for some time. Have all the hardware now for the little Starfire I have and am hoping Duff has the one he's driving in Hampton so I can get a good look to see how his is set up. Will give you a call before I go drilling any holes in mine. Tim

Best of luck to you guys flying the west coast colors. Dave, you know those Eastern guys can be tough, but take it easy on them anyway, OK...Ray
PS: shhh, Dave, you know the mere mention of that 80 boats strikes fear in the hearts of men, yet you blatantly indimatate those attempting to run with you? C'mon Dave you're too much of gentlemen to stoop to those tactics to set the competition into a mental state that they'll sleep with in the back of their minds, seeing the back of the 80, all day!!!!!.........MP

As I was packing getting ready to leave for Hampton with Mike Thompson I recieved a call from Mike telling me his Son and Daughter-in-law have been involved in a bad accident in Montgomery,Pa. while towing the boat to the race. Mike was able to talk to Chris (his Son) and from what we know at this time everybody is being transported to a hospital in Harrisburg, Pa. We do not think there are any life threatning injuries but from what we know the boat and the cars are totaled. I guess I can say a little prayer and unpack

Good News, Chris and Amy have been released from the Hospital and are home resting. They have cuts and bruises and are very very sore but very very lucky. Their New full sizes Chevy Pick-up is totaled and you would not believe anyone could have survived. The Boat is back at Mike's and Mike thinks it can be fixed. Bow is shatered and most of the underwater hardware is bent up from when it left the trailer and ended up in the bed of the truck. It's dark now so I'll get over there in the morning and we can start taking it apart and see just what is what. I'm sure they are thankful for all the kind thoughts and prayers Tim

Dave, glad you had a good time, and I think they probably treated you like you would treat them if they came out west to race. With very few exceptions boat racers are great people and that really adds to the sport in a way that can't be discribed...............Ray

Paul,
Chris and Amy are home but very sore. I saw Chris Sunday and he was very Bruised and was having some problems with his eyes. He was going to see a specialist. Chris said Amy is banged up pretty good. Her and I work in the same office building and she is still not back to work. I think I sent you the pictures of the Boat and Car and it's a wonder they were even able to walk away. I'd post the pictures if I knew how.

I just want to apologize to Sked, Gee and Bobby for the actions of Dave Rankin. I'm sure you guys had to deal with him licking the windows in the restaurants and his open public gay actions. We were glad to get rid of him from the west coast for a few days. His new K boat debut was a debacle and he needed to "git himself back up on dat der pony" (and behind it) and boost his ego. I appreciate all the hospitality and willingness to let him bring home the checkered flag. He is doing much better these days.

At the very least we got 1 heat in and a start in the second heat before we crashed it. You are the King of Crash stacking it up on the parade lap what a pathetic POS you are.

I just checked the APBA results for Long beach. It said K5 was the winner. K69 got a big fat DNF. (ie it sank!)
Even after crashing the white boat in burley, the results came in the same. K5 WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER!!
To be quite honest Mrs Rankin, this is really quite easy and it is starting to bore me. Since 2004 when we first came into the K class we have won all but 3 races. YAWN!!!
