$2900 With the Gear Vendors overdrive you could part it out for more than this!
Has 454, Gear Vendors Overdrive, T400, AC converted to late model refridgerant, would make someone a great work truck with a little mechanical work. I drove this truck for about 10 years and it will out pull my 96 454 Vortec by a good margin in terms of power.
Engine.. It runs good but needs a valve job I think as it's got a little skip at idle, intermittant skip that I don't think is ignition or carburetor. It is currently filed non-op status which is how I'd want to sell it as I don't think it'll pass smog without fixing the idle miss. Engine also leaks a little oil (has 140K on it) so will need a reseal at a minimum. If I was going to keep it I'd probably just pull it and go through it with a basic rebuild, reseal, valve job, etc.
Gear Vendors Trans.. The electronics (old style) quit a while back to it needs to be upgraded to the newer Gear Vendors electronics. It's a few hundred bucks from my understanding. I also have the stock driveline I think if you wanted to remove the Gear Vendors and sell it separately. (Don't know why anyone would want to they work great). New Gear Vendors units run over $2500 now. The Gear Vendors also has the optional deep sump on it.
Trans (T400)... works great after a little warm up idling for a minute or so. It whines initially on start up if in gear. The oil pickup o-ring has gotten hard and not sealing properly when cold. It works great though after a minute or so warm up, shifts nice and firm just as it was built to do. I ran it in this conditions for over 4 years with no worsening problem so I know its a minor initial oil supply problem when cold only.
Truck is painted red, decent paint job (Mazda Miata Red), would look good for a work truck capacity, although no longer show quality paint (few chips, normal wear and tear). Good tires (stock wheels), dropped 3 in the front 2 in the rear, 2WD, aftermarket front bucket seats (nice ones, Kustom Fit make I think). And it's got a later model (1990) front clip and GMC Grill with the later headlights than came with 81. (These trucks came with stacked rect headlights, not side by side).

Note - truck has relatively new master cylinder and power unit, also a/c compressor and has been changed over to late refrigerant (not R12)
The valve covers say 502... its a 454. Stock covers leaked like a bitch so I changed them to the late cast aluminum ones. No more leaky.

Also has MSD 6T box, Blaster coil, and HEI conversion kit

Front seat is aftermarket Kustom Fit in excellent condition. Center section folds up and down and has storage compartment under cushion. Driver and pass seats are real comfortable (much better than the old stock seat). I also have the 3rd rear seat which goes with it.
Questions, let me know. :)

So what you're saying is that the whole drive train should be rebuilt.
Atleast that's what I read, but that is shiney red paint..v-drive

Actually not at all.
As I stated above the engine has a slight miss at idle but still runs great. I didn't feel it would pass smog so I non-oped it as I had another vehicle and didn't need to drive it daily. Probably needs a valve job which I have no desire to do right now. The T-400 trans needs a filter oring as stated. It works and shift quite well and oil is spotless. The gear vendor overdrive needs the upgraded electronics package. New Gear Vendors overdrives sell for well over $2500 with the deep sump. The rear end needs nothing as it has been gone through not many miles ago.
If you want a turn key late model vehicle this is not the truck for you. I you want a decent older truck for not much $ and you don't mind a little mechanical work this would be a good project and would provide years of relatively cheap towing, transportation, for not much money. This particular 454 will outrun all the late stock 8.1 stuff too, it has tons of torque.
Sorry late model bling and warranty costs an additional 50K at your local dealer. :)
If it doesn't sell I may just fix all the above this winter and keep it as a parts runner vehicle for Rex Marine. It's a good solid truck, although not blingy by todays standards.

Don't recall saying anything about bling. I was only commenting on your mechanical discription.....v-drive

You're correct, my bad. Hopefully I explained that the whole drive train doesn't need to be rebuilt adequately. I'd get in the truck right now and drive it cross country towing a boat without concern if it weren't for the idle miss / smog issue.
