I saw a lot of Water Rod's in Havasu this weekend, was it their regatta or are they just getting more and more popular?

Almost got ran over by one of them at the sandbar!!! Had just passed the sandbar coming from Needles and it was real congested with boats so everyone was coming of plane, except of course some big Water Rod that stayed on the gas cutting through all the boats!!

who saw the party cat that was in the channel sat night around 8 ish parked with all the water rods down by the park on your way to the main marina......anyway the party cat was backed in to the shore u know with the drive on the beach and at the front of the boat facing the water with all the girls dancing on the nose doing the RUMP SHAKER !!!!!!! what a sight to see i wish i would of taken a pict... very intersting.... :rollside:

He works for a trailer mfg and said that their boats never fit on their trailers w/all the correct specs. His company suspects their mold is bad. If you go look at them in person, make sure you go during the day - it's in a bad neighborhood :crossx:

We were at Mojave the weekend after memorial day this year and we shared a cove with 4-5 waterrods. It must have been their regatta then cause they were all over the place. One of the guys was co owner that we shared a cove with and we dicussed them at length. He actually let me drive one of the 30 footers and it handled pretty good. I think it just had a 496 and a one of those volvo drives with the two props on it. I thought it would be way underpowered but it actually did pretty good for how big a boat it was. The guy said that they save a bunch of weight with the way they lay the glass or something. We had a great time and they were all cool peeps except for one guy who was dressed in full pants and a blazer that was a brown orange plaid. He looked silly and I wanted to laugh but I wasn't sure he was trying be funny. Here a pic of one of our girls learning how to dance and one of us enjoying the local spirits.......

That one was a smaller one. 27 I think and it had the traditional 496 HO bravo package if I remember correctly. That one was my favorite out of the ones I saw there. I wish I could remember the name of the owner now but he told me what the new ones were going for I was quite surprised at how inexpensive they were for a custom boat but I checked them out quite a bit and got the impression that they just didn't have the quality that a more expensive boat had. They drove real nice though.

I too like the 27. I went to the factory and I liked certain thing and was turned off by others like carpeted engine hatch like its an upgrade. Yeah right..u ever heard of an oil leak? Then Scoopy showed me amps under the engine hatch like that was the best place for them. Don't amps overheat in havasu heat? Then u put them next to the engine heat? However I have heard only heard negative comments from second and third hand parties. All the owners I have talkede to love them.
For the same money I think I would buy a used custom boat though.

There was a beautiful 30 footer parked at the Nautical Inn last night/today in the cove, I'm not familiar with the boats but I can say I've never seen nicer gel coat/graphics...what a sweet looking boat!!!

I think it is a great boat for the $. If you don't want to spend 100K on a hallet or elim you can get the B&H for like $60. Again I'm not sure about the quality but it is a great value IMHO.

I'm pretty sure Cheetah actually bought that mold from Virage...then SOLD copies to the parties named above...
I drove the Laser version, and did not care for it at all...
B&H used to also offer a 29' V that was the Cheetah 29 mold (not going into the history of that one) but I know that was being purchased as a bare hull from Cheetah, then sublet for rigging etc.

I am surprised you didn't like the laser 25. In Hot Boat they ran it with a 525 and the numbers were extremely impressive. They also tested the 25 bullet with same power and the chart looked like the laser was faster up to a certain speed although they did not mention that. Maybe the chart was off??? Cant trust HBOAT sometimes, they have typo's every month. Gotta find that issue.

Oh, it was fast...the one I was in had a 496HO, and it easily out ran my old Cheetah 29....ON FLAT WATER :wink: Anything bigger than about 1' chop and they would have to back off.
I rode in the 25' on Lake Mohave, not far south of Willow Beach...if you have ever been there then you know it stays pretty flat up there...that is the only boat I have EVER ridden in that I seriously thought was dangerous and felt like I was gonna be ejected.

Saying all Water Rod owners are black is like saying all Escalade owners are pimps (or maybe they just want to be).
