A Stratocaster and a small amp.....my fingers are bleeding ... :p Is that a bad sign....?... :D

ouch.. but are you having fun and is it loud enough to piss off your neighbors?
im teaching my son (7) to play the drums, taught my oldest daughter (16) to play the bass and she has it down pretty good, and my middle girl (11), im teaching to play guitar. the wife has already tought them all how to play piano...now if only my youngest girl (5) could sing we may have something. :)

I got those when I started learning guitar..mostly from splinters from picking up what was left of it.. :D

Each times after playing , rub your fingers in salt to toughen them

Exactly, I usually take some rock salt and warm water dip my fingers for 5-7 minutes after playing around. It makes the skin tougher. Have fun with it.
Did you get a tube or solidstate amp?

Try to find a tube. You'll enjoy the sound with a strat.

Thats the one.... sounds great. Never really had it up real loud as low is loud....... I play a Carvin AE120 (I think thats it) through it...had a Digitech effects proccessor too...all in all from Country to hard rock it sounds great.
