It's pretty damn low alright..... I was up that direction last weekend with Oldbuck, crossed the bridge by Kimball Bend Park(?) water is down quite a bit. Lots of shoreline exposed from the last time I was there....
But yes, we are going as well. Indian Lodge again. Oldbuck, Esabataj, TexasJet, Greaser, Atxwrangler, Black.... They're all stayin at the Lodge too. :rollside:

Yeah, but this year we're gonna come up to the shop and get you.
Somebody needs to call Joe Don, Fonda wants to know if he's cooking breakfast tacos.......:D
We are going to tow the flattie with our '66 F-100, it was down for repairs last year. Talk about waiting for a part....the column shift tube broke, I ordered a replacement part from Dennis Carpenter last September.
The company that makes the part waits until there is enough demand to make a production run (made in Argentina  ), so I finally got a new tube TWO WEEKS AGO.......
What fun, had to take the column out of the truck to replace the part, forgot how it reassembled since I took it apart LAST AUGUST.....
All day Saturday and some of Sunday it works again. Wife pointed out I am getting stupider as I get older....... :p
Just need to replace an A/C hose, recharge it, and we are good to go.
Hey jetboat, I'll be looking forward to meeting you, didn't know there was another Plano hot boater on the boards.

It took that long to find a shift tube? Why did they have to make it?

Far as I can tell, there is only one company in the US that has parts manufacturing license from Ford. That's Dennis Carpenter (http://www.dennis-carpenter.com/).
They told me last year that the part was out of stock and they only had one source, so I just had to wait until some were fabricated. I checked every stinkin' NOS parts house in the country I could find, and came up empty. Most of 'em used Dennis Carpenter as a source for their inventory.
I didn't want to use a junkyard part, because it would be worn out, and I would just be fixing it again. I checked in with DC every couple of months, but no luck. Finally they emailed me and said the parts were in a few weeks ago.
Funny thing, the damaged part I replaced had a Motorcraft P/N label on it, so it was a replacement too. The truck has only 120,000 miles on it. I think I'll be pulling the shifter now and then to lube it. The failure occurs where the shifter inserts into the tube.

I gotcha. I had a '68 awhile back, some of that stuff was mighty hard to come by. Totally agree on the junkyard deal. I got some of the harder to find stuff from a company called LMCTruck (www.lmctruck.com). Not sure if the stuff is licensed from Ford or not.... That and just because its listed in the catalog, doesn't necessarily mean they have it on the shelf. :D Good deal on getting yours rolling, makes me want another old Ford....

We have a gauge right below the house on the river and as of 6:00 this afternoon it is 10' and 2" low. It's probably still a doable deal, but the Corp starts closing some of the boat ramps when it gets this low and Plowman's is one of them. We've run with it low before but probably not this low.

When the water is this low, the old south ramp at Plowman's can be a little interesting. The Kimball ramp is probably the best ramp on the upper end of the lake and is always the last usable ramp when the water gets very low. I think it will all be cool though because we have run with the water lower than this. I haven't been down to the park but I know they haven't cut the grass here at Kimball and if they haven't cut it down there, it will look like a jungle. The year that the water was low we brought in a couple of riding mowers and cut the grass or at least a bunch of it.

Yep, still on. As a matter of fact, just got back from there. Tammy and I both had big old chicken-fried steaks. The cafe folks are leaving flyers at the lodge with the specials for Friday night on them. Give me or Tammy a call and we'll figure out the final prep for Saturday night.

No problem , we should be OK.
I will be cautious , do not want to hit any thing . The person you camping with knows the river a lot better than me. I like to follow him around .
I followed him up to the sandbar this summer, we will not be able to do that trip this time . Way too low..

She went in last night and picked up $300 worth of food for the smoker and we get a message a little while ago that no one wanted to be on a time constraint Saturday afternoon for the cookout. She's not a happy camper. Probably won't have to worry about any more cookouts or fish fries up here. Bert, let Linden know because I think he was planning on coming. I built that motor for JJ 3 or 4 years ago. He's supposed to be here around 8 in the morning to finish wiring and get it running. I've got to put him off a little bit to finish up a motor that's got to go in a boat in the morning.
