Plaster or Shotcrete? Wifey really doesn't like the feel of the Pebble Tech, so we are going with plaster or shotcrete with the salt system. Does anyone have an experience with shotcrete? Good or bad, let me know.
Thanks

we have it, not as rough as pebbletec and smoother than plaster. Has cool varigated look to it, easy to clean, never any algae either....not as smooth as fiberglass which for me is good.

Thanks. The pebble tech looks awsome, so many different colors, but just alittle too rough for the Kids and Wife.
Mandelon, are there a lot of different colors available?

 water chemistry determines if algae is present, not the pool finish. you may not be able to see it with some finishes, but it is there if the chemistry is not right.
just my .023m Colorquartz.......

Pebble Fina is what were looking at. New product made by the Pebble Tec folks, but much smoother (and costs less). Pebble Fina (http://www.pebbletec.com/pebble_fina.aspx)

Im a oc /south bay pool builder & haven't sold regular plaster in 3 years. I sell 3m standard & always push pebble tec, sheen, fina for long time & dark/medium color performance. Everybody seems pretty right on with there recomendations. I m usually just a lerker with nothing intresting to say. Hava good day.

Hava Ken, if you want to come to San Dimas and give me a price, let me know. I'm still open to pricing and options. I'm going with about a 36' pool, spa, rock slide and rock walls with waterfalls.

I went and looked at a pool with it yesterday. Nice color gradiation, with a small amount of sparkle. The texture felt just like plaster, not too rough.

trowl burn is why all of these new technolagies(sp?) have come in to being. do your homework, all have faults.

Did you sit in a spa with it? or just walk in the pool?

I just walked in the pool, on the Baja step.
As far as trowel burn, from what I understand, when the Pebble Fina is applied, it is followed by a buffing which removes a part of the surface to create the finished product.

Myself and every pool builder in town subcontract the plaster portion of the pool project. I have used several in the past & recomend Mission Pool Surface. I have been using them exclusivly for 5 years & they are very customer service oriented. They also deal direct.PM me, I will tell them to give you a ***boat discount. HAVA good day.

I don't know if it was already said here, but shotcrete is used under the pebble tech, not over. Your solution would be to plaster it, or use 3M, which 3M is recommended over plaster. I have a guy right up the street from you in LaVerne that would be glad to come by at your convinience and go over your project with you. Give Mike a call at 626 674-3793. He's a fellow boater and and knows his stuff when it comes to pool remodeling. :)
