I am getting close to finishing my '22 Schiada and the prop that was on the original prop shaft that was bent and that I replaced is wasted. I am trying to get on the water for Labor day. Does anyone have a spare 3-blade for a 1-inch shaft that I can test with. I have one prop but I think it is too small for my boat. It is a 10-7/8x15.

By the way it is equipped with a 502 HP ZZ502 and has a C-500. Gears are unknown but doing the crude spin test it appears to be 4%.

I may have one for you. Let me check, I took it of my old Spectra, it's steel and it is pretty big, but I can't remember the size.
It's a Menkins, I believe.

I have a spare that was just straightened and is at Menkens Ca / Tom Bentley.
It is a stainless 3 blade 12" x 16 for 1" shaft.
I went with a different style so I want to get rid of it.

My prop is still at Menkens
I asked Tom to try and sell it for me.
Call him at 530 885 0531
I just want enough to cover the repairs and shipping I have into it.

Hey 79 Howard -
Wanna sell that Kindsvater prop? Drop me PM. Still trying to get the right prop on my Spectra 20 LS6...that one sounds just about right, especially if it has about a medium cup.
Red Rocker - I've got a 12 x 15 Hill SS that might work for you.

My prop is 13X16. If you are interested in that big of a prop, let me know.
It does have a few marks in it from removing it off the shaft, but they are not too bad.

Red Rocker,
I have a 12 1/4 X 15 but it is a Bronze type I will give it to you if you want it.
79 Howard,
If no one before me buys that 11 3/4 X 15 Menkins I would like to try/buy it from you.
Weaverman,
I am trying to get my Spectra 20 right also. What Kind of HP and gears etc. are you running? And what speed did you get out of that 12X15?
Thanks all,
Chuck

I know I am going to have a lot of set-up to do once she hits the water but how does the prop I have sound? I would like to take an extra prop along to switch if my rpm's skyrocket or it bogs.

Mohave Chuck -
I've got about 6 props that I've had on this boat, which is a 1975 spectra 20 with a 4% overdrive and probably 500 hours on the engine but very well maintained. The biggest problem in my setup is that I've always seem to have trouble with too much transom lift; the boat just can't get up on top and run. Probably a power problem as much as anything, but could stand the prop to be moved forward as much as 3/4". Most props I've run are 12s, but I have run one 11 3/4" and one 13". The 13 x 14 MI Dynajet just killed the boat.
I've had 3 stainless props on it, one an 11 3/4 x 14 Menkens that is for my Thunderbolt v-drive. It is high rake and has the 90ยบ bent cup. It jammed the nose down hard, had a great ride as a result as far as crossing wakes was concerned, and really didn't rev the motor that hard @ 5300 or so. Boat went about musta ran about 54 or something like that. I have a 12 x 15 Ron Hill prop that needs cup and pitch...no good for me; shudders and shakes on this boat. I have a 12 x 15 Michigan X-100 Stainless Dynajet that runs about 10 MPH for every 1000 RPM...it needs cupping, thinning and a bit of pitch to maybe be a good one.
Mostly I use a 12 x 15 Nibral Michigan Dynajet with medium cup from 1966 (my Thunderbolt again) that can run about 58 MPH at 5400 RPM. These days I'm shooting more for a good cruise speed for fuel economy and engine hour reasons. This prop cruises me about 39 MPH @ 3400. I also have a 12 x 15 Dynajet that I ground a big cup in that gives me 42 - 44 MPH @ 3600, but holds the engine to about 4300 and only about 52 - 53 MPH. All numbers are GPS and a current Hardin tach. The boat accelerates pretty hard, really, with any of these props except the Ron Hill piece, flashing from 3400 - 4200 RPM when you nail it depending on prop.
I think ideally, without improving the current power level (425 - 450 HP??), an 11 3/4 x 16 low rake with a medium cup would be about perfect. The boat would probably run 60 @ 5300.

I'm interested in at least running that 12 x 16 Kindsvater if not adding it to the collection.
RedRocker -
I'm with Mohave on that 11 3/4 x16 Kindsvater you have; I'd at least like to try that one, too.
Thanks!

Well since this has sorta turned into a swap meet, i have a SS Menkens 11 3/4" 15 in very nice shape only two years old, wont work with my new gears and power. 1 1/8' shaft. Needs a new home.

Weaverman,
Our setups sound similar. Although I think I am running about 500HP, with a velvet drive and Champion V-drive 4% overdrive. The 12X 15 props I have tried get me about 60mph at 5200-5400 RPM. Dallas at Menkens in Phoenix thinks I should be running 11 1/2 X 15 to get me closer to 6000 RPM. I just can't afford the new prop yet.
I need something fitting a 1" shaft.

And I can't afford to run 6 grand! Having issues right now with valve train. Engine is a sweetheart, but starting to accumulate hours. I probably make close to 500 HP if I spin it to 6000, but I try not to run it past 5200 - 5400.
What's funny to me is that if you read Powerboat from back in the day, these boats went 65 MPH @ 5000...WTF?? That's why I picked up that Federal "X100" SS prop I bought. If you look at the Powerboat where they tested our boat (1978 I think), they mention a Federal X100 SS prop. The boats were probably ringers with light lay-up or something.

Dave- Could I borrow that 12x15 Menkins that you have for a 1-inch shaft and see how the boat performs? If it works good on the boat I'll buy it form you if you do not need it. I am actually surpirised your boat does not have a 1-1/8-inch shaft in it. My number is 714-276-5268. Give me a call. I am trying to have the boat ready for Labor day.
