I spent the day pulling the water soaked Sterling Performance Engines out of #30, the Skater Prototype that flipped over saturday. It was a tough job that began with pumping the delta out of the dry sump tanks, lines & engine, then disconnecting everything while mopping up the oily mess.
The engines sit so low that access to the bolts on the motor plate was very difficult. "I made up two new cuss words today while slippin around in there!"
The hull has no drain plugs but theres still water draining out of the cracked
sponson on port side. I wanted to post pics of the boat to share but I was told it wasn't a good idea yet. These should be o.k., I hope.

Why isn't there any drain plugs?
I would like to know that as well. Seems like there would always be some water in the blige that a pump could not get out.

Got the engines out & drained all the fliuds (water mostly). Turned them over by hand then sprayed lube into plug holes then I poured 2 gallons of oil in each & spun the dry sump pump to circulate. The engines are going to Sterling for tear down & rebuild & the boat is going back to Skater for analysis & repair. The port sponson is cracked badly as is the area between hatch covers on top, as well as prop gouges. Im just sharing the engine recovery stuff. I can't opine on breakage. The insurance guy was in fri. lookin it over.

Is this from the "poker run crash" threads? Man that was a mess. Really sux the boat got tore up. Hope everything works out well in the end. That's a lot of messy work, definitely. Better luck next time. :)
I am also curious as to the lack of drain plugs actually. Perhaps just didn't drill-em in on the PROTOTYPE. hmmmmmmm

Yes, the #30 from the the poker run. I don't know the reason for no drain plugs. The owner of the boat specified to Skater the design profile. I think he just wanted the hull to be clean. :)
