I need help trying to figure out how to read some tire sizes. Is there a formula to convert 445/65/R22.5 to the easy way 46?x17?x22.5<--- I am just guessing on these. How do you convert the size-maybe is there some kind of chart.
If not does anyone know the measurement of
-445/65/R22.5
&
-455/55/R22.5
Thanks for the help, KELLY

1st # is the tire width in MM
2nd # is the raito of the width divide by the side wall higth.
3rd # is the rim size.
to go from MM to inchs its 25,4 MM per inch so for example 445 MM would be ~ 17.5 " ( take # and divide by 25.4)

Damn, I was way off. I thought the first # was the tire diamater or something. Ok so the width is figured out 17 1/2" (17.51). Now I am a little confused at how to figure out the overall height of the tire. Thanks for helping me out I have been real lost on this for some time now..

Over all height it a little more complcated. you must figure out the side wall height take that # and add the rim size.... for example

445/65/22.5 overall tire height would be 45.25"
455/55/22.5 overall tire height would be 42.2"

overall tire height: 445/65/22.5
width x sidewall x 2 + rim size
445 (width) x .65 (sidewall ratio) = 289.25
289.25 x 2= 578.5
578.5 / 25.4 (mm to inch conversion) = 22.77
22.77 + 22.5 (rim size) = 45.27 (overall tire height).
Simple math.
