I missed the first thread. What actually caused the boat to spin in the first place. Looks as if things could have been much worse.

Everyone is ok.
They broke everything on the back of the boat.
Just look at the Gimbal pic!
They hooked up on the sponson going in to the turn during a practice run. The one pic looks like they were running the boat very wet and flat...

Ouch, glad everyone was ok.
What is Crue's involvement with the boat?

Wasn't the deal with this spin possibly due to the amount of weight that OSS made them install into the boat to slow them down, causing the CG to be off?

Blaster, Nothing to do with the band. Different spelling.
Slick, Key word there is possibly.
You are talking about the weight of 33 gallons of fuel on each side just as an example.
How much weight change to you think that boat makes between the start of the race to the end of the race?
Now if you know the weight was going to be implemented on to your race boat weeks if not months ahead of time, would you wait until the day before the race to go test to see how your boat runs with the weight?
I feel the water current played a part in the spin as well. 7 knot current runs through that river...

After looking back at the photo, it is running really wet. Just goes to show ya, even in experienced hands, things can happen, and fast.
