one of the pictures dossangers posted had a boat with number U67. What type of class was this?
I bought / still have a 68 campbell flatty that had U-011 on it. The boat had the set-up of an old racer but I would like to know more about the class history.

Thanks! Hey, have you had a chance to meet Jim Miller? He is a great guy. I already decided to buy one of his "evolution" hulls as my next boat....Actually, the last I talked to him, he was planning on moving to AZ to start building boats again.

Miller19j spent more time with him, but the time I spent with him left me with an impression of good honest hard working loyal great guy to deal with! And I LOVE those exotic wooden top boats he's making now...not sure if that's what you're talking about?

ssmike Yea I had my boat up with him a few months ago. He is a really nice guy. I think that his son is going to start building the production boats again they have a new 22.5 foot hull coming out soon. He didn’t mention anything about moving to Arizona though.
Are you going to get a Wood Deck boat from him?
Sorry Todd for Hijacking your thread.

Todd,
did you see the reference to the time Trav lost the lid on Triple Trouble over in the sandbar? If you didn't you'll never find it...but it was pretty funny!

the question still stands: What type of races did the old "U" boats race in? Well, with circle boats, "U" stands for unlimited. As in unlimited hydros such as Miss Bud. Old U-boats were still big unlimited boats. I don't know if there is/was a "U" designation with dragboats.

Miller,
Yes, I caught the wood-deck bug early in life...Here is my Dad's 69 Rayson Craft. He is the original and only owner.

I grew up with this boat. (with a lot less power.) Jim did the wood restoration/paint about 2 years ago.
I am planning to get one of the wood deck Evolution hulls in the 21-22.5 foot range. Probably with a covered motor, and room for 5.

SSMike,
I want one of those wood deck boats myself. 68 Campbell has a nice one that he is restoring and I am jealous. After I left Jim’s place the first time I was up there I wanted a wood deck boat badly. I was actually thinking about buying an old flattie hull and cutting the deck off and putting a wood one on. Someday I will give it a whirl.
That’s a beautiful boat! How is the paint job holding up? I had Jim redo my stripes below the rub rail and apparently he couldn’t match the color with gell so he used paint and I was curious how it would hold up.

I believe that U was replaced by K in the flatbottom class in the mid-60s, APBA started to brake classes up by CIs, And really never stopped screwing thing up!

mj19, Classic Trouble and Triple Trouble are brothers, When travis turned the Schiada into a temprimental little toy, we figured we needed a flatty to play with.

A long time ago I told myself if I ever bought a boat I would name it “Trouble by Association”. But since I see your brother once every three years now it’s not as fitting.
