Not trying to discourage you here but I don't think you are gonna make any more money or spend any less in Bullhead. Yes it is right by the river which makes it nice but like Squirten said the electric bill to run the a/c alone in the summer will cost a lot. Just trying to give you a little input.

I can't blame you for wanting to leave Logan,,,, Cold and about as much social life there as an Amish village on a Sunday night...

What does he (djunkie) know ??? He thinks BFGs suck !!!
In the summer $350 is cheep for air. My average was more like $380, I saw Julys' bill and said Bullshit this cities electric company is nuts !!!
Don't get me wrong it is nice here but it sucks when 36 becomes ice cold.
This is one of those right to work states and it sucks. Now being here you are close to everything so that makes it bearable.

Jim
I was talking to a guy that worked for one of the casinos in Laughlin / Bullhead City years ago. He said that before the casinos were owned by big corporations the old owners would pay their employees air conditioning bills. Don't know how much truth there was in that conversation but I thought that was kind of cool. I am sure we will never see that again.

It is my job as a resident to scare people off from moving here.
I love it here. I do wish there were more trees though.

Not sure of exact kilowatt price here in the desert. All I know is my Electric bill has been $114 a month for the last two years.
That's on the "Equalizer" plan where they average your use over the year, and you pay the same amount each month. My August bill (for July, the hottest month) would have been $285.00, April bill (for March, the mildest month) was around $75.00.
I'm also on a "Time Advantage" plan, where energy used "off-peak" between 9:00 PM and 9:00 AM every day, and all day weekends and Holidays, is cheaper than "on peak". I'm running about 70% "Off-Peak" and 30% "On-peak"
1,700sf all-electric home, 3 bdrm/fam room/2 bath. 4 ton heat pump. In Parker, but nearly identical weather to BHC.
Although this is with APS (Arizona Public Service). I think Bullhead City is with Citizen Utilities.
Probably more important, is that it's just the wife and me. No kids to leave lights on, take hour long showers, or leave the doors wide open in the middle of summer.

Thats not bad at all to put this in perspective in central cali we see temps between 100 and 105 with high humidity. Our bill for 1600 sq ft 3bd 2 bath is slightly over 300 a month in the summer. In the winter we drop in the very low 30's at night and our bill is just under 300 a month.
We looked into moving to bullhead 2 years ago, but decided to ride out the housing market as our house was building an insane amount of equity it appears to be leveling off now so we might consider it agian. The heat over there really isn't that bad the numbers are scary but it feels about the same as when we hit low 90's in fresno.

Moved to Buckeye AZ. from so cal two years ago. A/C ran 24-7 from May to Sept. All electric house, pool pump, water features as well, w/ an energy regulator, (off peak use stuff) A/C is not regulated. Electric bills were less than so cal in the summer time.
The locals in BHC are being priced out of the housing market with developements like Laughlin rnach etc attracting the retired folks.

thanks for all the input the drag strip is in vegas and their is another that is close to but cant remember were. the closest one to me right now is two and a half hours away and it sucks. Their is more mormans and drama in this valley then any were i just want to go some were to get the hell away for two or three years. as for the money their are to many auto shops in logan so it is hard to stay busy it sucks making flat rate when you are slow.

I went to Rocky Mountain Raceway in West Valley, great strip, with a circle track on the other side of the grandstands. Is that the strip you're talking about? The one in Vegas aint nearly as nice..............MP

This thread makes me feel way better about my heating bill. 1500 saqure foot house in IL. 112 years old (not too energy efficent). Average temp last month had to be low 20's and there were a few sub 0 nights. Gas bill- $210. Of course that furnace I just installed in the garage last week is going to shoot that all to hell. Well worth it though. :)
