It looks more like a family boat than a "hot" boat, but that doesn't make it ugly. . .it just looks like a fun day on the lake to me. Decent paint / colors too.

Well Id be damned, I thaught oldrigger would just LEAP on this and tell me what he had for lunch the day he built this hull! This boat runs 40mph on the ultraaccurate speedo @4000rpm, motor is 455 olds with mild looking intake and new 850 holley.[ Wouldnt want to push rpms any further the way the Olds sounds @ four grand.] It comes out of the water pretty good and planes out quick, then just doesent go any faster than 40. I took the cover off the jet pump and the impeller looks to be in good shape. What could I do to make this thing faster? anything? Its a great family boat, lots of room to move around, seats six comfortably.

I see a bow tank. A bow tank and maybe a deep vee? I'm guessing that even at WOT and 40mph this thing is plowing rather gliding through the water. If you can have someone check out the wetted surface while you're cruising at top speed. Either way a diverter is alway good on a jet but especially if yer plowin. Other than that you're gonna have to replace the bow tank with saddle tanks.

Also, if you're maxed out on the go pedal at 40mph and 4000 RPM and you don't want to turn anymore than 4000 RPM, you're kinda screwed. You either make more power out of the motor to turn that impellar faster (more RPMs) or you turn down that impellar to a smaller size to get the RPM's up and move more water.
It sounds like the boat is doing what it looks like it was designed to do. Be a nice little reliable, fun, family boat.
And no, IT'S NOT UGLY!

flatass,
beats the hell outa me what it was called, that's only the second one I can remember ever seeing. But it does share it's bottom with these 3 other tahiti's. All were based on the little 16 footer that was stretched and widened.
This first I'd damn near own another jet just to have, or one like it...
