trying to install a bbc in a 18ft outlaw hull with the 3 point set up. the problem is the drive shaft i have is appox. 1/2"-3/4" to long to let the bell housing set on the jet. do they make a spacer to go between the bell housing and the mount that bolts to it and the jet?

Sorry to tell you that it sounds like you have the wrong driveline for your bell housing. Most old three point bell housing set ups came with a Rockwell Drive line. It is the one that bolts directly to the motor without a flywheel button. Unfortunately, the rockwell drive line is the only one that will work with those bell housings and they went out of business about 15 years ago. Show a picture of what you have and maybe someone here will have what you need.

i have a driveshaft that bolts to the crankshaft also. but with a flex plate there is a gap. are they only for a flywheel set-up?

patThis might be stupid but why don't you go to a drive line shop and have yours cut down

Top Cat, these driveshafts that are being talked about here on this thread have no center shaft. All they have is an H-Bar. There is no way to make an H-Bar shorter. There has to be enough room in there for the double U-Joints to work.
Slotracer, The driveshafts were made both ways. One for a flywheel with a centering device, and one for a flex plate with a recess in the center to go over the crankhaft hub.

It sounds like you do. But, it can be used with a flex plate by making an aluminum spacer ring to go between the flex palte and the drive line to take up the space. It just makes it about a 1/4" longer.

would you by chance have the spacer made up? how thick does it need to be?

I may have one for a Chevy. I didn't see on this thread what engine you are running.

denis that would make life easy for me. i am either going to use the 3 point or just go the rail system. right now i need a 4 matching mounts for the rail set up though. i just want to get this thing running
