I'm in need of a top mount (rear mount) starter bracket...the one like MPD makes to mount a reverse rotation IMI starter to a regular rear motor plate. MPD's are on back order, and I'd really like to get one ASAP so I can go to the PT3/ CP regatta next weekend. My boat's done...ready to get wet...just need a starter adapter. If you have one, I can replace it as soon as MPD gets their next shipment, or just buy it outright.
Thakns in advance.

Sleek
Talked to them. They want to sell me a whole new rear plate w/ the mount installed...which they're out of.
Thanks

steel,
Is there a photo of the mount you are talking about somewhere on the MPD site?

I had nothing but problems with those top mount starters.I had a tilton and it would break the pinion off every to weeks.Tilton would bone me for pinion. It was in a 500" 13:1 chevy. The pinion is very long and would flex and snap.I guess it depends on how much static compresion you have.I would stay away.... :crossx: .I could not put a regular starter on that block because some knuckle head machined the outside starter hole off the block.I found that out whan I finished the build. So I sold that motor and built my 565.

Alan, I'm using an IMI starter. I don't have room down below for a conventional starter...have no choice.

That's the basic idea...but I'm not looking any more. Thanks, Jack, @ MPD for coming through for me. I should be good to go for the weekend. :D
Thanks Brian, and anyone else who tried to help.

steel,
If you have the time, snap a picture of the mount when you get it. I'm just curious to see what else is out there.
