:( i have an old mechanical tach jones made the thing and moroso has their logo on the dial. this thing looks to be about 30 years old but in great shape.so i start the boat and give a few revs passed 5000 grand and the needle on the tach jumps the tell tail and stays stuck there!!!!! any fix for this? should i smack it what?send it back? is it fix able? so now the needle it stuck and i'm bent ... :( frown

On the right side of the tach there is a knob. Turn it one way and it will lock the TTale in place (how far you rev the engine). Turn it the other and will let it go back freely to 5K. :D

naa this tach does have a knob but you just push it in to reset it back to 5000. that where they put the pin on the dail

I have the same tach and turning the position of the knob can hold the TT in the place of highest revs or let it freely move back to 5K pin (on the face of the tach) :cool: .

There are a bunch of styles of Jones tachs out there, some have just a button, some have a knob, some have key, many many variations over the years. Try a local speedometer shop if you can find one, some work on these. Otherwise you might try Glenwood Marine in Gardena Ca. They buy direct from co. that now makes Jones any may be able to have it repaired. Good luck

mike have you ever seen this particular problem before? i'm lost , i never saw this happen before.and the reason os i thought this tach was a neat piece. an old moroso jones tach.man i hope i can get the thing repaired,i have a another bur it doesn't have the neat orange needle ..dammm i like t5his tach it matches the boat so nice

owell the thing is suck on 5000. i never run under that,so its staying there.
