LONG BEACH, Calif. -- A man was arrested Saturday night in connection with a bomb threat authorities said he made to Long Beach Airport after he arrived late for his flight and was not allowed to board, an FBI spokesman said Sunday.
The threat happened at about 9:15 p.m. Saturday involving Jet Blue flight 243 to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., FBI Media Coordinator Kenny Smith said.
Authorities arrested Yechezkel Wells, an American citizen, in the vicinity of the airport at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, based on information he provided in the phone call, Smith said.
Three other people were detained, questioned and released, Smith said. Wells was apparently upset that he had been kept off the plane, according to Smith.
Officials from Homeland Security, the FBI and Long Beach police conducted a search of the plane with the aid of bomb-sniffing dogs, said Sharon Jackson, a spokesperson for the airport.
Wells confessed to the authorities that there was no bomb, Smith said.
Passengers were delayed about 50 minutes before the flight resumed, he said.
