We were just headed outta Baker on the I-15 headed to 'Vegas when I realized while we were merging onto the highway, two kids in an old recycled Ryder 16' van wern't going to let us merge into traffic.
I slowed down to let them proceed, then to almost a stop into the shoulder and they did too, almost stopping in the slow lane with the only purpose not to let me merge just to f#ck with my head, and it was obvious they were A holes.
I was towing several tons of travel trailer behind the GMC and not a lot I could do.
It dawned on me maybe they wanted to rob us, so I pulled our legally registered Glock 9mm outta the backpack and shifted it into gear.
The van took off to mess with others on the I-15, just because they felt like it, and left us behind.
I got back up to speed and we watched these kids slow down & speed up in various lanes changing lanes to block & annoy people that were trying to pass them.
Then as they would pass on ramps, they wouldn't let people merge on to the highway the same style like they did to us. Slowing down and speeding up forcing them into the shoulder too.
The old shopworn Ryder van had a super motor in it, these kid had some real speed and power. Damfino what engine they had,, but the old van had some snot.
I dropped back into traffic and as we approached the Nevada border I dialed *NHP and got the Nevada Highway Patrol 911 operator.
First words she said:
"Are you calling about the reckless driving ryder van Northbound on the I-15 near Primm?"
Seems like everyone else had the same idea to call *NHP too.
I said "yep", and got off the phone.
We got off in Primm and re-fueled, pee break and headed back North on the the I-15.
Kinda forgetting the whole incident, but still irritated.
About 10 minutes north approaching Jean, NHP blue and gold Crown Vicks emergency lites were lighting up the highway. Traffic to a crawl.
The LEOS had the jerks form the old faded Ryder van hooked up and sitting on the side of the highway on the embankment,, and angry, annoyed motorists were chatting with the LEOS.
Lots of tention in the air as traffic crept by.
Some of the stopped motorists were there to get a piece of these guys from the Ryder Van, and the LEOS weren't going to let it happen. It was mob control.
Felt better when I saw that and we headed to Sams Town, and I got over it.
Passed a big rig accident on the Hi Way that totally eliminated about 30 yards of the "New Jersey (center concrete) type barrier". I mean annihilated, gone. Brutal.
Un hooked & hooked up the trailer in the Sams Town RV park, the kids hit the pool and the wife and I went to the casino.
Alice sits in front of video poker machines with her ankles touching the cheeks of her butt, and her knees clutching the video poker machine while leaning back in the chair, the glow of the screen on her beautiful face.
Looks erotic.
Draws a crowd when she does that,, and in about 20 minutes she drew a Royal Flush too.
We never, ever have hit a "Royal".
Forgot all about the incident on the I-15.
Later that evening, some of the casino employees & executives recognized my wife and came up to chat with us at the upstairs stagecoach sportsbar. A cool, cozy little hang out spot.
They have an excellent Healthplan at Sams Town.
If it's a serious cancer issue they or their family member are sent to Los Angeles, and they eventually hook up with my wife.
All kinds of comps were handed to us.
And the stories & rum & beer flowed, and they were so appreciative of Alice.

Yeah a friend of mine while in havasu around 6 in the afternoon saw what appeared to be a drunk driver, swerving erraticlly between two lanes, hit the curb once or twice...
So they called 911 and LHpd answered and told them , we are too busy to deal with that....
What were they too busy doing, looking for a girls boob that may fall out....

Do you suppose, if their lives were half as good as yours, they would be doing that crap?

Ya know, I was thinking that when I opened this thread but I didn't think that was a cool thing to do in the AZ/CA/NV area. If I can see someone barely has control of their vehicle, I'm calling it in.

Called the CHP on some guy a few months back that had 5 or 6 kids in his Nissan Sentra and none of them were wearing seatbelts or in child safety seats. One of the kids was actually laying down in the area just in front of the rear window. Not sure if the LE ever caught up with him but felt compelled to do my part and call.

I'm not saying this is the case with you or your situation, but most people fail to realize that its YOUR job as a motorist to merge into traffic. Not in any way is it required that traffic move over for you to get onto the freeway. If you can't get up to speed and blend, you better ditch onto the shoulder or stop. 3 things for stupid people to try to remember. #1. If you're not using your turn signal to merge...forget it. I'm not moving an inch. I love the look on people faces when they realize that 70 feet of semi is about to open you door like a can opener. If you're too lazy to use the lever on the left of the wheel, I'm too lazy to move over. #2. If you don't merge properly, you can get a fine for failure to yield, or failure to merge, failure to obey traffic signs. All on ramps have a merge or yield sign. #3. If I or anyone moves over to let someone merge and there is a cop in a bad mood, I can get the ticket for unnecessary lane change. I've seen it all happen. I can go on about all the crap I see. PS, I hope the kids got their asses kicked.

I feel the same way about people merging. I will move over if it is VERY clear in the left lane but only if and I do mean IF the merging vehicle is using its turn signal. And I don't mean turning it on three seconds before he is entering MY lane. I unfortunately drive 45,000 miles each year, mostly for business. I do not intend to be killed out there, I have kids to raise.

I can see where all the "Road Rage" comes from. Why don't some of you idiots go into a large city such as Dallas for example, where there is always construction and people driving like fukkin' idiots... and believe me you are gonna have to "merge into traffic" unexpectedly... then you have some prick that won't let you in because "he has the right of way"... gimme a fukkin' break. Sorry, all drivers aren't rocket scientists and a little courtesy goes a long way.

Safety is much more important than courtesy. If a driver cannot play by the safety rules then he should not be on the road. Driving is not a sport or even a right. People who don't do it right get no quarter by me.

...open a driving school then so everybody can drive as perfect as you do... then it will be a perfect world with no accidents or deaths relating to autos or even boats for that matter... yeah that sounds good... you can follow the little humminbirds down the yellow brick road that's lined with all the pretty flowers and open your school there. You'll see the sign... it says FANTASY LAND!!! Just be careful merging into that quiet little town so they don't run your Fukkin' ass over when you try to merge into traffic... :rollside: :) :yuk:

Ahhh horse shit!!! You give me a fukkin break. Dallas, Houston, Boston, Philly, NY, Chicago, Columbus, Indianapolis, Detroit, I do them all. You don't "merge into traffic unexpectedly" To merge, you need a ramp. You are on the ramp and therefore you KNOW you are going to be merging. Do your part, get up to speed and merge. If you can't, its your job to stop or wait. If you force a merge and someone has to make a lane change to let you in because you can't do it right, then you have an unsafe lane change because the ahole can't merge. If I don't see a blinker, I don't move. Plain and simple. What I find is that assholes don't want to read and follow. "Left Lane Ends 2 Miles. Merge Right" Asshole waits to the end to move over because he can't follow directions. He/she now has to cut someone off or hit the brakes. I see it all day long. Drivers don't need to be rocket scientists, but they need to be able to follow simple driving rules and follow them.

Ratso, you're coming off as the guy thats all pissed off because you or someone you know can't drive for shit and everyone around has to adjust for you. Maybe not, but thats what I'm getting. Here's a tip: Only you care about you. Nobody else on the road gives a crap about you or your passenger, the baby on board or what you're doing. Drive they way you're supposed to and its all cool.

It seems to me Ratso more likely comes off as a courtious driver who A. makes a little room for other drivers. B. Understands there could be workers or a stranded vehicle ect. just out of sight. Playing the game "HOGS OF THE ROAD" is straight out of "Clock work orange" and is basically russian roulette. Share the road. The life you save may well be your own.
Ratso, Thanks for sharring the road. R.B.

Between my lovely job and personal travels, I drive 150,000 miles a year. Its what I do. That attitude is more prevalent to peoples driving skills than what most of you could ever fathom in your commute even if its 100 miles a day, you don't see it. It sucks that people don't care, but they don't. I wish everyone would drive by the book, but they don't. You have to drive with the attitude that nobody gives a turd about you. Then you need to drive to cover your own ass and take care of yourself. I'm not saying that if there is a wreck, people won't help or just drive by, its never been that way. Perople are helpful when not behnd the wheel. Here is another scenario...if you are in the fast lane, and there isn't a vehicle for a 1/2 mile or more in front of you and there is one on your ass or gaining behind you, you're the one that doesn't care if you don't move over. You take on the attitude "I'm here, you can go around", instead of moving over, you just became that person.

I once called on a drunk driver on the northbound 5 freeway from the OC and ended up getting switched several times as we kept passing through CHP jurisdictional areas. We ended up in LA County area before he was stopped.
Ended up the driver was going into diabetic shock and many of the signs and symptoms of this are eratic driving, much like a DUI. Fortunately for him they got the paramedics there and fixed him up before he crashed and hurt himself or somebody else.
Yes, I don't hesitate to place the call on extremely eratic behavior on the freeway that would endanger others.

I have a big ass truck... but don't have the attitude that I have a big ass truck...
My dad has that mentality... I have the right of way so fu#k them... no telling how many near misses he has had, yet he has his strict standards about the way things should be. I'll never forget the morning he called me up on his cell phone about an accident he was in. DPS had a semi pulled over on a two lane highway checking the weight or something. Of course he was running the speed limit and I'm sure cussing the little old lady in front of him traveling about 10mph too slow. He was so busy watching her back bumper that he wasn't ready when she veered left and stopped in the road to avoid the semi trailer stopped half on and half off the median. He is pulling a trailer, has to slam on his brakes to avoid her and ends up pinned under the semi trailer for about an hour. Thank god for airbags... She wasn't abiding by the rules of the road, yet that holier than thou attitude is exactly what bites people like you in the ass eventually... There are dumbasses on the road. Accept it before you kill somebody.

I have *55 several times. Last time was a flatbed that his load had shifted where he coudn't see. I had them ready to flag the driver at the gate. Several times for something in the road. Once for a guy driving reckless at high speeds and almost took my bumper off.
I have had kids do a rollin roadblock and other stupid tricks on the pike, but they only do it at night and where they cannot be ID'd. A group of them got in front of a semi a few years ago. They would get to a no passing stretch and slow down to a crawl, then speed up in the passing zones. They did it for so long that after twenty miles and still doing it town, the driver lost it and rear-ended them. He loses his freedom and his livelyhood. They were bragging about it in school the next day.

Called CHP to report on a CHP officer:
Heading NB on 95 N of Neadles, CHP passed me over a dbl yellow, 3 big rigs in front of me, right turn in the road coming up and because of the rigs to his right that he is passing he can't see the 18 wheeler heading SB. Everyone sees this going down except for the CHP and the oncoming rig and everyone else slams on the brakes, Rig SB coming around the corner slams on his brakes and goes off the road. CHP never stopped and kept going to a non-injury traffic accident which we saw later.
Called Needles CHP talked with the Sargent. He said he was glad that I called to report this and they would talk to the officer.
I got nothing against cops but that move looked like a teenager was driving.

Called on a drunk driver heading west on I40..think we called when near the road with the funky name (zzxyxzz??). He was weaving between both shoulders of the road, would slow to 35-40 then zoom up to 90+. Most were scared to pass or try to get by the guy. Then further up the road this guy comes barreling up behind me again and I had to switch lanes to avoid being rear ended by him(again). So basically all these people had to deal with this bozo accross the whole stretch of 40. It wasn't until we came into Barstow that CHP finally went flying by us and nabbed him at the 40/15 merge....an hour after we'd called the first time. Dispatcher had told us they'd been called on it and were on the way already, but took an hour or more to finally stop him was not "on the way" in my book...Lots of bad things could have happened if not for all the other aware/defensive drivers.

Headed back from Laughlin Sunday, after watching this guy for 5 miles in a california plated ford explorer riding the bumper of the car ahead of him....just into Havasu first double lane into town.
I had this Jack Ass make a right turn from the left lane ...Missed him by a cars length or less at 55 and continued on our way home.
Almost T boned him and would have knocked him on his side. would have definetly totaled our car.
I always try to leave a little heads up room between me and the car in front for special people like this guy
