For Summer of 2006 I installed a motor/drive package on this nice 21 Schiada. Since I am always talking about Howards, I figured I would show some pics of this cool boat. This is one of the funnest boats I have ever been in. It will run in the upper 80's pretty easily. The customer brought me the boat less motor and wanted a motor/drive package along with new engine compartment rigging and a dash upgrade. Here are a few pics for your entertainment:

Nice to see the boat in good hands (I'm the son of the previous owner). And yes, that boat is an absolute blast. Tell Charlie it looks good. He should have many trouble free years with the new setup.

What a nice boat. I was hoping the previous owners would be on the boards. Thanks for the compliments.

I love Schiadas [ a friend owned a 22 back in the early 70's] ,and would love to have a 27 [ like Mondorally's ] with big power . What is the deadrise on the 27 ? My 24 Spectra had only 16* and handled big water pretty good.

Hmmnn. I have no idea, but now you've got me curious..... I'll see what I can do to figure it out.

Mondo, my friend had a prego passenger riding in this video , and she never complained . I thought she might give birth prematurely , but I know the boat is like a brick and had it in much worse conditions while I had it .

GT,
What's the cost on the Motor/Drive package?

TPI
08-28-2006, 05:51 PM
The drop in motor only with all of the accessories is $26949.00. With the drive and gimbal choices available, the complete package price varies. When comparing costs to a merc 525, I don't even try to compete. Mercury's prices(especially dealer prices) are very good. But for the guy that wants something custom made for him, this is definately a great choice.

The boat belongs to a couple from Pasadena. They like taking it to the river. Super cool people. Here is a pic from Elsinore before the hatch was done.

That sounds good. Make sure you give me a few months notice. This new 848 thing is taking off and I already have my hands tied. Remember, two motor orders and I am swamped! :rollside: Seriously, Just let me know and I will get your 525 taken care of. Thanks Gary

Hey Gary, what speeds did that Schiada see with this motor? And thats the 21 tunnel isn't it?

TPI

It is a 21 RT. I did not push this boat very hard. I drove it in the mid to upper 80's pretty easily. I am sure it will run over 90 mph without too much effort. I am generally pretty gentle with my customer's boat's, especially with a brand new motor. I would like to get a couple hours and an oil change on board before I lay down the top speed #, and that is always at the request of the customer. Generally, these motor's make a customers boat run faster than they were expecting, or faster than they are ready to go, so I just make sure everything exceeds their expectations before I deliver the boat.

Charlie,
I am glad your are enjoying the boat. LOL, The t shirt comment surprises me, :rollside: I seem to recall sending you a tee shirt when you only inquired about one of my motors. Tell Sylvia I have some HOT ladies tanks with both string shoulder straps and regular style tanks. She can have two on the house! Just let me know what size!
Sheeeeesh, it's always the guys that buy the little motor's that whine   :rollside: :rollside: :rollside:

Thats because we have to compensate for our motor short comings with apparel. And yes, I did get a shirt already. Just trying to guilt you into another one. :p
Mondo: Yeah, it is a "scoop". I wanted to fill in the hole in the hatch flat across. But, Gary builds his motors about an inch too tall. So, this is what I came up with.

That 1" too tall engine= more power and fun for you and Sylvia. You don't have to guilt me into a shirt, just ask. It's ok. You are a paying customer. Here: gary@tpboats.com or (805)480-2693 I need Sylvia's size and I have a XXS for you. :crossx:

Actually I was referring to the exhaust manifolds (now that I can see them). From the other direction I wasn't sure what I was looking at. And with the "scoop" it'll be that much easier to whipple it down the line!

Isnt it cool how the exhaust sticks out like that(that was Charlie's idea  ) I wonder if the whole hatch was built 1" higher if it all would have cleared that motor that is too high? :boxed: I like the Whipple idea, I have a polished 200ax ready for you Charlie, just let me know. We can butter Silvia up with some shirts before you break the news. :crossx:

RT21

I was really limited with what I could do with the hatch. Its pretty tight clearances in there. Maybe in the off season I can figure something out. Or, better yet have a proffe$$ional look at it. Anything completely covered would be a lot of work. At least the CMI's dont get very hot.
Hmmm, Whipple? I think you would need to send quite a few of those shirts to my insurance guy first.

I can hear it now,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Hey insurance guy, I have a 21 river tunnel with an 800+HP supercharged engine in it. What is my annual payment? If they said yes, I am guessing $7000+ for a real policy.

Smokin Schiada!!! Best one I've seen. The cut outs for the headers look fine. It would be cool if the exposed black hose could be something a bit more durable resisting the sun cracking the rubber.
