in the drive do you start feeling like a kid waking up on Christmas Morning?
We drive from the 805 so 5 hours is a long while but worth it.....the Excited Kid feeling starts about Vidal Junction and just gets better the closer we get.....:)

MB2 - we leave from essentially the same locale. Typically takes us 4 hours without a stop. I start to feel the river flowing in my veins as soon as I'm off the 14 and crossing toward Victorville.

4 hour drive for me. I pick up around Amboy... 2 hours 45 minutes in (I've made this run too many times...I have it down to minutes now). Nice little jaunt to the Mountain Springs onramp at the 40 and the descent into Needles.

After I get over the shock at the gas pump, I get excited I'm going boating

The excitement used to start as soon as I would leave our house in Rancho Cucamonga. I knew in less than 4 hours I would be seeing the water in Havasu. Now, with the 15 being so jacked up, and taking up to 4-1/2 to 5 hours to get there the excitement dosen't start until the decent into Needles.

I first get worked up  loading up the night before (probably another reason why I'm :skull: divorced). Thank god for girl :p :p :p friends!!!!
Ever since I was a kid (circa 1967-72 memories and photos) I can remember knowing we were close when you could smell the river (intoxicating!!) and how I missed  boating when I crossed the border as a teen traveling :rollside: :rollside: to AZ from Cali to see my grand parents in PHX.

Yep...just me an Ralphie heading up tomorrow....Jay's coming up Wednesday morning...we should have the BU and Schiada staged up either tomorrow night or Wednesday morning....Wednesday should be some nice water for testing for the new (to me) boat....:)
Cory....I too start thinking about the 1st drink at Blue about the Earp Bridge....get to house, drop stuff, let dog go the restroom, go to bar...pretty much the scenario every other Thur/Fri night. :)

Live down in Carlsbad, so the feeling hits when I get to Bylth.
Hey, does anyone have the quickest route to the river (Havi) from San Deigo.
I take the 8E to the 78N to Blyth, and the head up the 95 N to Havi.
Takes about 6 hours (towing the boat) with 2 stops (1 for gas, 1 for GF - for some reason she can not hold it).
Looking for faster route, but the way I go I only have 1 mountain pass to deal with.
Any ideas?
