It has been a long 3 years since the Mach 1 Project began,
there have been many obstacles to overcome
but I have finally met and actually surpassed my goal
of running 150 MPH in a 1/4 mile or less in an open jet.
I planned on running sometime during the Labor Day weekend
and chose to run Friday morning in hopes of getting the best water possible.
We arrived at Modesto Res around 10:00 AM,
the conditions were absolutely phenomenal.
Around 11:00 AM from a ~25 MPH rolling start to flattening the butterflies and hitting 10,000 RPM for a count of 6,
the GPS recorded a max speed of 152 MPH.
Many thanks to Brian (Blue Boat) for not only helping out again with the run today but for being a great friend.
Also, many thanks to the good friends I have met along the way who have supported the project.

Not bad william, but I'm curious. You're running what, a AAA, or 9.25" impeller?
10,000 rpm, and 152mph?
Something's not hooking up. Dude...yer smokin the tires!
Congrats on reaching your goal. It's one awsome piece of work.

Way to gooooooo. That's a very big goal to acheive. Now lock up the boat so nobody can steal it! I'd sleep on the front deck of it with a shotgun. Congratsulations again. Budlight

The impeller is a AA Aggressor which I have been told many times is similar to a AAA Berkeley cut.
During the run on Friday, the boat was still picking up speed when I shut down.
I wanted to run it out a bit longer but couldn't.
There is a small island in the middle of Modesto Res and I was heading in that direction and it was approaching fast,
I slightly turned the wheel at speed and the boat kept going strait like on a set of rails,
so for safety sake I shut the run down.
Not that I wanted to do a hard right turn but just wanted to slightly nudge it to the right.
I talked to Jack McClure at MPD yesterday about the engine still running at 10K RPM and not being able to steer at speed.
His responses were:
* He said the engine is most likely making too much power for the pump to pull it down,
he suggested trying to lower the shoe or back off the power of the engine. While at MPD last Saturday,
after Jack checked the entire pump he made a .250 shoe shim which I ran on Friday.
For the run, the shoe stack was at 1.250, the previous run last month with the 141 MPH GPS result after 4 seconds,
the shoe stack was at 1.1875.
I have the capability with my current shims to run the shoe stack at 1.4375. I am not going to back down the engine,
so I will try to lower the shoe if I run it again.
* He has heard similar statements from people with fast jets of not being able to steer at speed.

With the pressure the pump is seeing, do you think you're even able to move the steering nozzle when you turn the wheel?
Pretty damn impressive, again.

Late in '04 when Jeff Bennett did the bottom work, he put a 1.00" keel on the boat.
You might be right about the pressure and not being able to move the nozzle,
but you would think with the Calgo steering there would be a more positive response.

Very cool, Congrats! Stick a Brad Anderson hemi into just about anything, and it will be fast. ;)
Sure would be interesting to see that boat at Ming.
Well, if he wants to run that speed on the NJBA course at Ming, he's going to need a capsule (+145mph for jet & flat).

He could get one pass( if he lies a little) then they would shut him down. But it still would be interesting to see what it does through the lights.

Congratulations BAE way to stick to your guns!
He wouldn't have to lie at all to run it at ming. All he has to say is he has no idea what it would do cause he's never run it at the track. Honesty is the best policy :D
