We had reservations and were planning on coming, but we're going to have to back out of this one. That is the weekend of my son's last football game and they actually start school that Wednesday. The teachers went on strike (again, they did it 2 years ago) the day before school was supposed to start on the 6th, so the kids are getting screwed, and so are the parents. We'll get down there eventually, but not this time.

Unfortunatley I had to cancel my reservations. I can't go this year.
A friend (and neighbor) David Rody was killed in Iraq and the services are Friday and Saturday. I have known him since he was 8 years old. He was a Navy bomb disposal specialist and he was killed by a bomb that was booby trapped. I guess someone had it wired up so that they could blow up the bomb when one of our GI's approached it. He was only 23 and had a wife and 3 children. Just last year he and his wife adopted twin boys that were born to his cousin.
He was a nice kid and he will be missed

I just found out that Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, KS is going to demonstrate at this funeral. They believe that GOd is punishing Americans for their tolerance of homosexuals by killing U.S. troups in Iraq.
This is the most outrageous of acts. These soliers are protecting our right of free speech and these wacko's somehow tie it in to their own hatred of gays.
