Heres the situation.....lost the gas cap on the boat (the safty chain broke) and the boat is in havasu.
I forgot to measure it before we left, so I have no idea what size or where i might even be able to find one.
This isnt my boat, so I'll do my best to answer any questions....
The boat is (i believe) a '69 Wriedt...16' jetboat.....the gas cap is a screw on female cap (unlike your standard car gas caps which are male)
If anyone knows where I can find such a gas cap and knows what size to use, please let me know. Driving the boat around with duct tape on the filler is REALLY ghetto.

It's most likely a Nicson piece. Go to www.spectramarine.com classifieds . Some peeps may have one laying around in their garages .Lot of spectras had them as standard item.

I have those same fuel fills on my Weimann. I don't know where to get a new cap unless someone has one laying around collecting dust. Maybe it is time to upgrade to some new fuel fills all together...Rex Marine has a clearance on some new SS ones...Rex Marine (http://shopping.rexmar.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=onsalegasfill)
How did you lose it anyway? Drop it in the drink or what? Or did you gas her up and forget to put it back on and drive off?

We lost it once gasing up at the pumps on the south side of the channel.....dropped it in the water. Someone dove in after it and got it.
Second time we gased up and drove off...went back and retraced our steps, but never found it :(
It's my cousins boat and its been in the family for a long time (since new i think)....I think we are going to do some major overhaulin this winter. Including new tanks and fillers. This boat really needs some love.
So if anyone knows where we can find some tanks that will fit in this boat, let me know. We will probably be going with some flip top style fillers this time around.

I had some custom ones built so that they fit nicely in the sides. It would be hard to find something off the shelf to fit and still look good...or you could always go with the round tube type...
good luck with the overhaulin' and post up some pics of your progress...

Where did you go for your custom tanks? and how much did you pay for them?

Well, you can go to Imco or someother places but I had a local shop (buddy of mine) build them. They are aluminum and I payed $500 total for both. I can talk to my buddy and see if he can fab you up some. Just need some really good measurements or an old tank. I cut my old glass ones out and had him use them as a template to get the general shape and tweaked 'em from there.
I've heard a lot about the Coast Guard approval but honestly, the old 'glass ones I had sure the hell weren't USCG approved so what does it matter?
If you want, I can post up some pics tomorrow...
