of old boat trailers (circa late 60's). Specifically, the tail lights, side steps and side markers. I'll be ready to move on to restoring the Stevens' trailer soon and I would like to restore it to original. Problem is, the reflectors used originally aren't legal, and all the other lights have been modified/removed/bastardized.

135 views and I figured there'd be at least ONE person with a pic of an old v drive trailer.

Ok Mike, here ya go...1960 Wickens. I remember my dads old stevens had the removable rear bumper (like this one) to let the rudder and prop out.

Thanks Jerry. That 3rd shot is almost exactly what my trailer looks like. The fun part will be updating the lighting so it's legal while keeping the original look.

The more I look at mine, the more I think it had a removeable light bar, too. Does anyone have a clearer pic of a light bar and how it attaches to the trailer?

The trailer I have has the holes for the removable light bar. Anybody use that, recommend that, or hate it and why? Thanks!
That's what I remember from when I was a kid. Most, maybe all, of my dads buddys back then ran light bars on their flatbottoms, with matching wood step pads too.
Back the boat down the ramp, remove the light bar, pull the pin, fire up the boat...all part of a ritual I can remember like yesterday. I aways liked them, but can remember talking to them years later and they thought they were a pain in the ass.
That 4th trailer down that v-drivevideo posted is nice. I like the full hubcaps and www tires. Shoot, they all look nice to me. :)

I have a couple of photos taken in '67, the trailer is still the same as it was back then. The trailer was built in '64.

This is my first boat back in 73, I made up this bar from a piece of board laying around. Pretty simple I just wired it up and used a trailer plug, to mount it all I did was use lag bolts a nut in back to hold the bolts and served as a spacer, I took small pieces of round stock and welded them to nuts to make wing nuts to hold it on the trailer, took all of 30 seconds to take it off or put it on!.. Pretty crude to todays standards but at the time it worked great, and it drew attention!..

Well it is a Stevens but not the original deck, it had a wood deck and it was destroyed!. The trailer is a Vance and it looks good because it was just painted, this is the way I got it kinda nasty looking, in fact the whole thing was a POS, had to redo the whole thing from scratch!..
