My trans has no fill tube/dipstick, instead a threaded plug where it goes. What level should the fluid be when hot?. I am thinking of getting a stock Chevy dipstick/tube, measuring where the marks are in relation to the bottom of the tube and fabbing a screw in billet one. Are these already available or should I make mine and a few extras?

Please let me know what you end up doing, I bought my trans used out of a boat and it has a Art Carr ID tag on it with a screw in plug (blue anodized A N deal) it would be nice to check the fluid level.
Thanks, Chris.

The level should be half ways between the Add and the Full mark just like in the tow vehicle, don't want no fluid going up in the rotating mass!.. There are shorty dipstick dealios out there, I'd just make one myself!..

Really? Read the first post. Problem is nothing that has the add and full marks. Thanks though J/K :)

Talk to Stan at Schiada, I think he makes or has a shorty little deal set up, pretty sure my dad uses this setup.
Steves brand new 21RC has the threaded plug also, but I will call Stan. Cavitation Plate PICS???

level should be at pan gasket level you don't need to checking running due to no tork converter.

"My trans has no fill tube/dipstick, instead a threaded plug where it goes. " is how the post started. But thanks anyway :)

Ditto what 21Rayson stated. Trouble free all summer with trans filled to the pan gasket. pour it in an' pour it on.

I was hoping GoFast would post a step by step proceedure for reading a dip stick because I am still confused. :rollside:

I will gladly try and explain but I'm not sure what you're confused about???, factory dipsticks have an Add mark and a Full mark, in the middle is the ideal spot that way you're sure not to get fluid up into the rotating mass and cause foaming!..
