Well our boat is finally done and the stereo is complete. Here's a few teaser pics of the install done by the guys over at Al & Ed's next to the Ontario Mills Mall. I promise to post more pics when I get back from the river this weekend I just ran out of time trying to get everything ready.
First off here's the boat

Ultra did an amazing job on the boat for us.
Here's the rear cup holder pocket....Huge thanks to Magic34 for his help with the billet grilles

Alpine PDX Amps mounted in the mid cabin. The plexiglass ring lights up and glows red along with red LED's in each of the cup holder pockets

We ran two remotes, one up front in the open bow and one for the driver

The mounts were custom machined out of alum for us by a good friend of mine. I love how they turned out.

This switch controls the LED's and is hidden in the back on one of the cup holder pockets.

OK that's it for now. The really impressive stuff is the attention to detail on the stuff you can't see. The wiring of all 8 cross-overs is a work of art, the battery charger, volt meter, etc....are all installed beautifully...like they were always a part of the boat. Dave and Darren at Al & Ed's poured their blood sweat and tears into this boat and always kept a great attitude....even putting up with an OCD, anal retentive, meniacle owner like me. They worked with me day to day and were willing to listen to my inputs but at the same time steer me in the right direction.
See you all on the water,
Chris <-------- Still kinda deaf from testing out the stereo yesterday :crossx:

Chris that install is off the hook. You have my mind racing right now on how I can throw some speakers on the underside of our hatch. What a difference from when I saw the boat before the install. NICE.

Nice...So now that several 100lbs of blingy stereo crap has been added, you'll really be riding like a V-bottom. :crossx:

Thanks everyone....My favorite part was that the guys at Al & Ed's really tried to work with-in the lines of the boat, so that the stereo added to the overall clean lines, and looked like it was supposed to be there. I didn't want anything that would take away from the looks of the boat only add to it....it's hard to express this but they knew exactly what I meant and I think they did a great job. It sounds amazing for the realatively small amount of equipment tucked in there.
TCN Thanks, the hatch speakers are the loudest clearest sounding speakers I've ever heard. Those wakeboard boat guys figured out how to get the sound out and away from the boat. I'll get you Dave's number when you're ready :rollside:
DCBDaytona- I just wanted to even up the odds a little for ya :crossx:
I promise to get more pics up later.
Thanks again,
Chris

I've heard the horror stories. The boat is looked up everynight in the storage unit with camera's watching it the whole time. I hope that should be enough.

That is a sweet set up man.. Al and Ed's huh? looks like you are really happy with them.. Did they do ALL the installation or did you get a basic system from ultra and then did some upgrades at Al and Eds? By the way, how may batteries are you running to power up the system? Can you give us an estimated cost for the whole job?
thanks man

Looks awesome!! How did you get the remotes to control the IPod??? Ive got the same ipod harness in our 27 but different controls and I still have to reach accross into the glove compartment to control it.

We're running four batteries total, standard deep cycle marine for now. 3 for the stereo and one for starting. Also installed a Promariner 20 amp three bank charger to give the batt's a good charge overnight.
Al & Ed's did the entire install. Ultra worked very well with us on some changes during the build to allow Al & Ed's to get everything just where they needed to go. I basically dropped the boat off to Al & Ed's complete and then they took the entire interior of the boat out and started the stereo install.
As far as costs...you'll have to call Dave the owner of the Al & Ed's at (909) 951-1946 for that. He takes care of the HB.com peeps.

We used a Pioneer Headunit that was set-up with the iPod control module. The iPod is a specific "source" on the head unit. The remotes then control the headunit. I haven't spent a lot of time playing with it yet but so far I can control song selection and playlist. There is another remote with a display on it that really lets you control the iPod but you can only hook one of those up at a time, not two like we ran.

I didn't think you could link those type of remotes (more than one). Did they change something maybe?
Looks good. I would love to hear it. :)

Nice looking setup and a great looking boat. I am curious as to why you didn't put a remote at the transom. That is where I have my second one and it is used more than the other by the driver. We seem to be always hanging out on the swim-step and that is why I put one there.

Both of the Mocks are like 8 feet tall!!! They can be swimming and reach up and over the openbow and change the volume/song without even stretching. :crossx: :220v: :p
On a serious note when you beach a cat you usually go off the front onto land.If I was installing a remote thats where I would mount it so I don't have to swim to the back of teh boat like us Deep V guys.
