See, this is what I feel discredits the Democrats. Why are they always complaining that they were ALL fooled by this one man? Are they ALL that dumb or did they too feel that Sadham was a realistic future threat? I think they did. Are they back pedaling now because they need an opposite possition? Yup, that's why they have no solutions or plan, just rehtoric. Why are the dems so weak on this issue? Because the Republicans are strong.
We went to war with Iraq because Sadham had violated 17 UN resolutions pertaining to the whereabouts of the WMD's. He refussed to proove that he had destroyed them. Don't forget that durring the 1st Gulf war we accepted his Surrender along as he dissarmed and left Kuwait alone. Since he never prooved that he dissarmed or destroyed the weapons we went to war. If he had WMD's or not, it was up to him to proove his case under the UN resolutions (17 of them). At what time do you stop giving the man chances? After 9/11 did anyone really want to just assume that the weapons were gone. As far as the link between Al Qaeda and Sadham goes, it doesn't matter. They both hate the U.S so it would of only been a matter of time before they linked up (my opinion).

Ya know I get sick and tired of hearing "Bush said.....". Most of the idiots in the media, Dems, and other Bush detractors never listen to anything Bush really "Says". Bush never claimed ties between Sadaam and al-Q. He went to war in Iraq for the reasons Quickjet stated. These folks keep repeating their idiotic "facts" over and over so much they forget who said what.
Everyone in our government through the past 2 administrations has honestly felt he had WMD's. And he did, as he used them on the Kurds. But unfortunatelly since we haven't discovered this big warehouse containing a nuclear arsenal, it was all Bush Lies.
There are radical factions that hate us and want to destroy us. They have been hitting US positions and other civilized nations positions for over 25 years. GW Bush just came along and took a stand. "Said" enough is enough.
There are Islamic terrorists acting in the name of Allah. They have declared Jihad on us. And they will continue to murder and hide among innocent people. They are cowards. Those in our society that deny the existance of these terrorists and attempt to blame their existance on US foreign policy and/or justify their actions with all sorts of idiotic theory are fools and blind traitors.
I keep hearing Blown and others talking about "sheep" and "Kool-Aid Drinkers". These terms best describe the morons who hide their heads in the sand when it comes to the reality of the radical Islamic threat. The old hippy theory of dissent and distrust just ain't working folks. Wake up, grow up, face the world, and actually listen for once. You ain't hearing what is really being "said".

Should it be policy that we ignore the rest of the world? We have alies in areas of the world that are unstable. Combine that with our melting pot society, it would be very difficult not to "medle" as you say. Unfortunatly the world looks to us for assistance, weather it be financial, militarily or on a humanitarian level. I would absolutely love it if we would tell the rest of the world to F-off on all levels, however what I want rarily is for the betterment of mankind. Therefore I leave it up to the elected politicians

We tried isolationism before blown. Care to remember, or continue life in Denial?
1919 thru late 1941.
Care to school me on what went on durring that time?
Lessee .......
The US Depression,
The Worldwide (especially harsh in Europe) depression,
The rise of National Socialism in Germany, due pretty much entirely to the above economic conditions in Germany and the conditions of the Versalies Treaty,
The rise of Socialist Franco in Spain during the Spanish Civil War, Everyone else was in it, except the US.
The Loyalists (also known as the Republicans) received weapons and volunteers from the Soviet Union, the international Communist movement, and the International Brigades, while the Nationalists (or Francoists) were supported by Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany.
The rise of Socialist Mussulini, due to Italian failures in WWI,
The rise of the regional conquest desires of Japan,
So blown, explain to me again just HOW Isolationism works.

Blown your responses are "What were we doing in these countries during various time periods."
We were exploiting their "numero uno" natural resource: OIL. We and the British were using modern technology to drill and provide a market to sell too. We paid a pretty penny for all we took and provided a better technological way of life for their people.
Problem was then as now, their leadership in the region was made up of royal families, crooks, and religious nuts that pretty much took all the profits from the people and denied basic human rights.
Whine and moan Blown but you have no point nor a solution. In fact your "Free Thinkers Society" doesn't much understand the reality of the middle east. Just continued condemnation of the "Zionists" and the "West", just like the radical Islamic heathens. Why is that, you 2 groups thinking so much alike? Wellllllllllllllllllll................?

Not to disagree but to shed more light on the subject, understand that before we had meddled in any Mid-Eastern affairs, there was already a strong hatred towards anyone and anything that differed from their religion. This goes way beyond what's happened in the second half of the last century. Islamic fundamentalist will recall the crusades and the Spanish inqusitions, but they were already beheading people that would not convert to Islam well before either of those. Most funamentalists (which are increasing) are more radical in their approach towards the Koran's edict to eliminate those who oppose Islam (infidels). This goes back to Abraham in biblical history. They feel they were cheated out of their prominence. If you look back in time, there have always be an Islam vs. every other religion conflict. They cannot even agree among each other as to how to worship much like christianity. They, however feel justified in killing in the name of Islam.
You can relate it also to the fact that the US has always supported Israel. The fact is that Palistine wasn't Palistine until after they invaded the Israeli occupied territory. After the Palistinians left they went to other nations (Lebanon being one of them) and were eventually kick out because they couldn't get along. Israel gave the Palisinians a lot of advantages in Israel (education, welfare ect.) but it wasn't enough. They wanted the whole country and wanted the Israelis eleminated.
Getting back to the war, the Iraqi people (other than the Sunni's which Hussen was afiliated with) are glad that we're there. If you talk to most returning soldiers (ever ones that were injured), they'll tell you that it is a worthwide venture. The problems that are going on in Iraq are actually cause by non-Iraqi's that do not want a democratic gov't. Most fundamentalist believe in a theocracy (kind of like here in Utah).
That being said, whether you believe in the war or not, we're there and need to ensure that the Iraqi gov'.t is shored up before we leave.
I apologize for any inaccuracies in the above. I'm sure that someone will be more than happy to point them out, liberal or conservative.

Oh, have faith, I'll have the scoped .308 out come Now 28th. thru Dec 12th. :skull:
I enjoy the charcoal-burner, and I have had little time to practice with it, so, for my own preferences, I need to hold my shots to less then 150 yds. I never have liked the "in-lines", magnum charge capacity or not, so I have a traditional caplock design, 100 gr powder loading max. The rifle is happiest with 70 grains.
Sure, it may, or may not, be true that the brits gassed the Kurd uprising, EIGHTY-PLUS years ago, who knows. I seem to recall them gassing some Germans first. The German's did return the favor as I recall, but then whose to say who gassed first. The German's gassed some Russians, French, and Americans too. We gassed the Germans, so did the French. I bet the Russians played the game too before they lost & pulled out. It was the height of Millitary technology at the time.
Oh, for Credibility, the above listed sights, say we gassed Falujah too, a few years back on the Marine sweep thru there. I'm sure blown believes THAT too.
