He stays up for days on end.

You put on your anti war/don't support the troops shirt, and go meet up with your friends.
He still fights for your right to wear that shirt.

You make sure you're cell phone is in your pocket.
He clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags.

You talk trash about your "buddies" that aren't with you.
He knows he may not see some of his buddies again.

You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls.
He walks the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.

You complain about how hot it is.
He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow.

You go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got your order wrong.
He doesn't get to eat today.

Your maid makes your bed and washes your clothes.
He wears the same things for weeks, but makes sure his weapons are clean.

You go to the mall and get your hair redone.
He doesn't have time to brush his teeth today.

You're angry because your class ran 5 minutes over.
He's told he will be held over an extra 2 months.

You call your girlfriend and set a date for tonight.
He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.

You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do everyday.
He holds his letter close and smells his love's perfume.

You roll your eyes as a baby cries.
He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they'll ever meet

You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything.
He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he is fighting.

He hears the gunfire, bombs and screams of the wounded.

You see only what the media wants you to see.
He sees the broken bodies lying around him.

You are asked to go to the store by your parents. You don't.
He does exactly what he is told.

You stay at home and watch TV.
He takes whatever time he is given to call, write home, sleep, and eat.

You crawl into your soft bed, with down pillows, and get comfortable.
He crawls under a tank for shade and a 5 minute nap, only to be woken by gunfire.

You sit there and judge him, saying the world is probably a worse place because of men like him.
If only there were more men like him!

9-11 is coming up,they want people to read what they go through daily. This is for them,I have to keep it up.Please understand, this is not B.S.I talk to Shawn often via Yahoo Messenger the soldiers are your Sons,Daughters,Niece`s, Nephew`s we are so fortunate here step back and read some of the hilarious drama on here and then put yourself there.He said no Hot Water for two days but was so happy for water.This is about the guys and gals. People our Guys and Gals Thank- You, he did say can`t keep up with the e-mail so understand, but makes it very good to hear from you.Don`t be miffed if he doesn`t return an e-mail he does smile as his head hits the bunk. Who makes fun of soldiers?

How`s it going TB? since this NEWBIE has arrived we have had some interesting exchanges and will admit through PM`s have the utmost respect for you.You have corrected me advised me and then I`m on my own here.I`ve got a problem with you and it`s one that must be done openly since that`s how the ass-ache originated I hope you understand.I`m not computer literate and can do the basics and am getting better.I have a family friend in Iraq whose is as close to me as I consider him my SON we get the luxury of having Yahoo Messenger and if and when he is in we get to chat.Brown he sent this E-Mail to me and asked me to pass it on IF I thought it worthy of passing on.This is where poor REX becomes involved, I asked him to post this for me if he thought it worthy of it.Brown ,I had to twist his arm a tad to do it so that being said.You must understand REX had nothing to do with this and if you`re irritated with the message it came from a WARRIOR in Iraq so what ever you do please don`t let involve Mike. :( :( :( :( :(

My point is, I don't hear anyone making fun of soldiers. I think there is a lot of respect for military people.
The jokes that are flying around are aimed at the political branch.
The boots on the ground and other forces are widely respect, from what I can tell. Even the upper ranks and generals are respected. People in the military are just doing their job.

I've shared my opinion and that is: It sure seems like military people are respected. I've not heard any jokes making fun of the military. Not one. Everyone seems to love and admire those guys.

Actually Tom it was the condition you left the restroom in that ultimately led to the escort out the door. It took us several days to clean up and repaint.
I do agree with you though, I think for the most part the military itself is highly respected regardless of ones view on any particular conflict.

058, Thanks I talked to Shawn this morning he says it is great to get the positive e-mails from all who have sent them.Please understand will try to respond but they are running him ragged delivering fuel and training new guys.God wiling ,the warrior will be coming home before 07.I do pray for him. Thanks all who have written or keep this in front of all, as it`s just about the guys and gals and nothing more or less. :)

Watching news Friday 10:30 I felt appropriate to bump this.Soldiers killed many more severly wounded many were wearing their sneakers and t-shirts off duty clothing no protection.The sight of the comanding officer in full combat clothing standing over a soldier and asking the medics if he was going to be all right,says volumes these guys are family and care about eachother. UNTIL THEY COME HOME this is what they go through over there.
