I would like to find just the right waterski for me. are there any shops that will let me demo some skis in the socal area?

Chicks does.
I think its $25 (or something like that) and then if you find the one you like. they apply the money towards the ski.

If you roll down to Buena Vista, I will meet you out there and you are more than welcome to try my KD7000 (Kidder). It's the top of the line comp ski from about '99 or so. Double wetwraps for feet 10-12.

At the River in Parker "The Beach" has Mike Macks shop inside.
Rental is applied to purchase.
Prices are high there, and I wager that Macks connection is in name only.
The Beach is on my list of official "Parker Clip joints and unreasonable Speed Traps":
So rent, and only buy with your eyes wide open.

Thought most ski shops would rent a ski and apply the rental towards the purchase.

Endos waterski works in Belmont Shore. Been around forever and are very knowledgable.

If you buy a ski from Sports Chalet and don't like it, they will let you exchange it for another one. And you can keep doing that until you find the one you like.

I went by chicks and sports chalet this weekend. thy each had like 3 skis said it was a seasonal item for them. chicks sold all there demos at there tent sale and sport chalet had a few rental skis. Belmont shores is my next stop.
