Got a letter from Chevrolet today. They're increaseing the warranty for engine and drive train to 5 years/100,000 miles from 3/36 on 2007 vehicles. (Includes Roadside Assistance and Courtesy Transportation)
I guesss they want to try and attract buyers.

It's the equiv to about an 8% discount.
So if in addition, the good prices of the recent past are still avail, might be a good deal.
We love all our GM rolling stock.
But we know that fuel pump, alternator, water pump replacement will probably be part of the first 100 k.

This sounds familiar
A similar warranty strategy was credited with helping Korean automaker Hyundai Motor, which offered a 10-year, 100,000-mile warranty on 1999 models after quality problems earlier in the decade. The move helped its U.S. sales rise 82 percent from a year earlier.

The GM warranty is fully transferrable if you sell or trade. I think that is a step up from the other long term warranties available.

Does this apply to only new purchases?
When I bought my 07 Tahoe I remember being told it was 3/36k (only had the tahoe about 3 mos and already have 12k :( )

Nope. They're applying it to ALL '07s.
Look for a letter and an ammendment to the warranty coming to your mailbox soon. I've had mine since Jan. (9,000 miles)
Except that maybe the lame-ass STOKER sticker in the back window may void your warranty. :D

The "big 3" will be bankrupt and in the hands of private owners by 2010.
My prediction. :)

Yea. Wouldnt be surprised, and it's be a tragedy.
Ford cars are the most heavily recalled, the Japanese are starting to roll out their 3/4 and 1 ton trucks,, the Ford 6.0 disaster,,, let me count the reasons, this list could go on and on..
It's not like GM and Ford haven't seen this coming for several decades.

There have been rumors of Toyota buying out GM for years. Not sure if will happen though.

I`m glad to see GM extending their warranties, they make good stuff, but it seems like everyone just looks at warranties today and don`t mind doing more maintenence to foregin cars. Then they expect to do no maintenence to domestic cars, but if they break then domestic cars are just poorly engineered american junk.
GM also extended its warranties on Goodwrench parts. My dads suburban nuked a trans last weekend and I checked out a goodwrench trans. If I use my friends discount I can get the GM trans cheaper than from a trans shop and they just extended the GM warranty to 3yrs, 100,000 miles.
