This all started because I was pissed at how many times I used my toy hauler last year (3), so I decided to take the wife and daughter to Sea World via truck/toy hauler style.
We stayed at Mission Bay RV park. The people that run that place are a pain in the a$$, and they are no longer allowing toy haulers. They say that they are too big and bring too much stuff. Funny, I brought a small BBQ and a tricycle for my 2 y/o. That was the only thing outside of my trailer at night, or even during the day. Also, I paid for 2 spots and parked my truck at the other spot next to me. These were the most expensive spots in the park, and everyday security or management asked me to move the truck because I needed to park in my spot. I had to tell them multiple times that I paid for 2 spots.
Anyways, we backed right up to Mission Bay. If there wasn't a chain link fence in the way, 5 steps and I was in the drink. That was cool, but I wouldn't go in that water, fairly dark water.
Sea World is a great place. I haven't been there since a senior in HS, about 8-9 years ago, and I didn't appreciate it then like I did this time. I want to go again.
If you ever go, send your group on the raft ride and if you go along the cousre across from the aquarium, there are these $0.25 machines that are water cannons. Load them up and you can shoot the rafts with water. I spent about $18 on these things. I hit the boat with my wife and the 2 grandmas (mom/mom in law) with 3 different cannons. They were soaked. I had to have shot 30 different boats. I could have done that all day. It is a calm section of the river course, so everyone is just chillin in the rafts and then they get hit in the side of the head with the water cannons. :D

Next time look into Campland on the Bay. That is the one everyone I know who goes uses. Of course we just drive down for the day but had a free hotel stay last time and that was cool. Good thing is you can go back to Sea World for free by the end of the year with your full price ticket. We took our 18 month old and it was a blast. Sea animals are the best. My son was loving watching the Shamu and dolphin shows and such. My wife loves penguins and I love seeing the Polar bears swim around in the morning from the undwerwater viewing. Those things look exactly like the Coca-Cola Bears and even though they would rip me to shreds their is just something cool about seeing big stupid bears just swimming around in the water.

I didn't know Campland is not allowing toy haulers! Well I guess we can't make a reservation there then  Lame! Well we went to Sea World this past October and it was totally different from the last time I was there. I couldn't have been more than 7 if even that old... so it was neat to go back and Sean could have stayed at the machines spraying people all day long! He and his brother thought that was the greatest thing there! So funny! We have some pictures there that were really neat of the animals. Oh and you forgot to mention beer school :p we have a degree in Beerology (whatever they may call it there) that was a cool thing to do at the Budwieser facility. Well hopefully you can use the trailer more this year and thanks for sharing your family vacation story w/ us. Campland is great, but yeah, the water is not so clean :D But it's fun riding bicycles around, hang out on the beach, play horseshoes and have a fire at night and of course some nice cocktails :D Thanks for sharing w/ us :D

Next time stay farther north (Carlsbad state beach or the one in Solona Beach) can't remember the names, but you can walk right into the big blue. They allow Toy Haulers and don't give you a hard time about it. I was going to store my boat at that RV place until new management took over and jacked the prices out of control. Now it parked next to the house in Carlsbad.

Glad to hear it was a good time besides the park B.S. I am a little surprised you didn't leave the wifey and mother in law at the park and fly home with your daughter Clark Griswald style.;) :crossx:

Suggestion.... Do NOT sit center stage within the first 10 rows at the dolphin show or sea lion show.
The dolphins splash center stage like 6 times in a row with their tail. People were dripping wet with water coming out of their shoes. At the sea lion show the Walrus spits about 6 times at the exact same spot.

Not Campland..... Mission Bay RV Park on De Anza.
Campland is just across the water behind Mission Bay RV Park.

Went last year with the family, and I must agree with you I enjoyed it far more than when I was younger. But it that is probably because I got to see the reaction of my 5 and 3 year old to all the different attractions.

We stayed down that way earlier this year at Chula Vista RV Park (http://www.chulavistarv.com/) It's a very nice, clean and friendly park. It's a short drive to Sea World and the Zoo, and while it's not on Mission Bay, (it's on San Diego bay) it's right on the water and a locked gate is all that seperates it from the waters edge. Theres a great restaurant on the Marina next door, with great amenities in the park.
I would recommend it to anyone planning a trip to the area, I am definately staying there again next year.
