Does anyone have a website link that has a good prop slip calculator?

Just mess around with your cell phone calc until you come up with 7%. :D
Or you could try Bam Marine (http://www.go-fast.com/bam_marine_knowledge_base.htm). Some pretty good stuff there. :rollside:

I used the one on BAM's site. So is 17% really high for a surface drive?

Huck,
Don't know how good it is but Bronson Hill has a prop calc on their site;

Tried Bronson Hills, but it will not take speeds above 100.

The answer depends on blade speed, hull speed and quickness needed. Does it take you 30 seconds to get up to 17%? Do you just roll it over and get top speed (17%) in 10 seconds? What do you want the boat to do (within reason)? Some want "pull" to top speed and others will 'suffer thru ' weak low and mid' for top end speeds. Do you have an accurate speed measurment tool?

Once on plane and I hammer the throttles, it will take 15 seconds or so to build up to top speed. As far as what I would like...I've been told by the engine builder, Eliminator, and Aaron at Absolute that with the power I have, my boat should be able to run at least 130. It is just not possible with the 1.5 gears in my drives. I've gotta re-gear them, but at a cost of about $6,000 per drive. OUCH! I don't need to have a hard pull to top speed. I used a Norskog GPS speedo for speed measurement and Gaffrig tattletale tachs for recording RPM's.

You believe your engine/boat builder???.....:D
J/K What speed are you getting?? rather then changing gears can't you just prop up???

Thereya go making things complicated again. Here's how it's done:
Me: "Nice looking boat. How fast will it run?"
Huckleberry: "Thanks. I've had it up to 142 on GPS. If I can get someone to throttle for me while I drive, it should hit 150 no problem."
Me: "No shit? Man, that's sweeeeeeet!"
Ta-daaaaaaa!!! Problem solved, and best of all, it was free!!! :crossx: :D
