Hey, I'm new to the forum as a member but I have been checking in now for a few months. I just got done with a years project, in about two months. It took countless long nights, and damn near made me single!! But its done and runs great. My boat is a 19ft. shallow vee 1976 Miller with a 600hp 467 Ford, and a blue printed pump from Jack at MPD,witha place diverter.I was stoked to see a picture of it from Labor Day(ahi Quin)that was posted awhile back. So anyway my question is, has anybody ran a "snoot" from hi tech performance? Does it really work better than a droop snoot? I run my boat mostly at Blythe, Parker, and local lakes. Also I wanted to put a shoe and ride plate on my boat, any advice or suggestions ?? Thanks alot guys

Do a search on here for Snoot you will find this has been covered in depth but it all comes down to this. You have to try it on your application to see if it works.

Hey 76. Is your Miller yellow & white? I remember seeing what looked like a Miller, yellow & white, a couple weeks back. Had essentially the same gel scheme as my '75, though mine's 2 tone blue.

Hey 75, yep ,that was me. Blythe I'm assuming. Mine was like your picture, not that long ago. Except, my gel was about three shades lighter.

Hey 76 Miller, I ran a 76 Miller with a 460-berk and a Snoot, this gives the boat more leaverage to ski/tube and when you want to go fast, put the diverter one notch above center, this is were mine ran it's best with 4* wedge.
Ran a droup with 6* wedge all it did was drag in the water any were below 50 mph.
Ok facts:
The boat ran 65 with stock berk.
The boat ran 63 with droup.
The boat ran 69 with Snoot.
The best thing that I did was set back the pump, shoed the intake, installed
an inducer. B aggressor impeller, 9 vaine bowl, Snoot and a diverter.
With this combination the Miller ran 76MPH.

Eliminator 540, thanks alot for the helpful info. Thats suprising that the droop actually slowed you down. Hey, do you happen to remember the length of the snoot you had or who made it ? And did you feel a big difference when you added the shoe and ride plate. We're you out of control when you were wide open with the snoot, without the shoe and ride ? 76.

i am also debating on the snoot or the droop. i almost have the same setup as you. 468 BBC 600hp bluprinted berk pump 18.5 challenger jetboat. im thinking about just going for the droop. ill do some reading up on the forums first though. good thread i have asked the same question in the past

The Snoot was from HTP , that snoot is about 9 inch, the boat is very stable,
but you have to remember in a V bottom boat if you are on the center rib
and the engine stops YOU WILL FALL TO THE HEAVIST SIDE, making a sharp
turn!
By adding a shoe and ride plate the boat lifts and causes less drag, which makes more speed. This also replaces the surface that is cut out for the intake, gives the boat some thing to ride on. "rideplate"
The B Aggressor spun 5900 RPM, With a little help from a cam and carb from
HTP.

I believe Duane (HTP) makes several different length Snoots ... you might ask him which he thinks would benefit you most.

Get in touch with Squirtcha? at Arizona Jet Boating. I will be seeing him this Sunday in case he doesnt get this post. He has all the numbers of trial and error with his (Snoot and Ride plate). I will ask him to send a reply.

This is not true for every boat. Some boats deal with that situation very well. Every boat is different. Best to experiment, slowly increasing spead and letting off the gas-that will give you a good idea of what to expect during an unscheduled shut down.

These are the two best well rehearsed posts i've seen in a while. Next best thing to the spammin thunder days. 76miller you better pick up the cam and carb too while your at it. Mr. 540 makes it seem like a no brainer.

So whats that thing between the snute and the bowl?

It's a bowl extension made by American Turbine.

My boat ran 73.74 with the Snoot.
With a Berkeley Droop Snoot it ran 78.02. All numbers confirmed at lake Ming.
My advice Berkeley Droop.

Everyboat is different. I tried both. My hull did not like the droop. See if someone close to you can let you try one out.

I have a suggestion. Since Duane sells both the droop and the snoot, call him and give him all the info on your set-up. He has probably tested something close to what you have over the years. Talk to Duane or Brian 316-794-8616. Or you could do what Rondane, aka Chet, advised. Oh wait, he didn't give any advice, just negative input.

"I was just rereading my post on this thread and realized I made a typo. My rpm should have read 4900 RPM, not 5900 RPM. on my second post. Sorry about that."
