They got it wet but didn't want any water spots on that piece of art so they put in back in the trailer after buffing and waxing the bottom.

First off thanks a million to little Bobby for gettin the boat out there for me. If anyone has his Number I would appreciate it if you could P.M. it to me
So I get to needles at 9:00 on Monday morning and get my first look at the boat in over a year. What an awesome feeling to finally see the boat finished  I was really blown away at the completed boat everything in it is brand new, and perfect. I took about 10 minutes to myself just to look everything over and let it all soak in. I noticed that it had been in the water, and asked Billy how it ran. He gets this big smile and says it was awesome.
I've been worried about the Injection on this thing for quite a while, and have been told by numerous people that I would be smart to take it off, and replace it with a carb!!! I gotta call from Rick King about two weeks ago to discuss the injection, and some problems he was having with it. I tell him that I might just change it to carbration, and he assures me he can get it set up for me and that it would be worry free. So I decide to just leave it on.
So Rick comes over, and sets the valves brfore I take it out for the first time, and gives me some instructions on how to start it with the injection. He tells me it will fire right up, and idle fine. I went out three times on Monday, and the boat fired up on the first time everytime, and idled beatifully. I just want to thank Rick for all his hard work in gettin it so dialed in.
So its finally time to get her wet, I go out and take it real easy never even get on it(for those people who know me this had to be a shock) , but it was amazing how smooth everything was and how easy to drive it is. I had to come in cause my left leg was dead.
I go out a second time and get on her a little more. Art came out at the same time, and as I was coming back down river he turned right next to me. I saw him take off, and let him go(If it would have been V-Drive Video it would have been on :crossx:) I cant beleive how good this boat runs, and how you can tell it really wants to go, but I still take it easy, and bring her back in. My leg is really dead by now.
I decide to go out a third time with Billy, and decide I better put some gas in her. This will blow you away it would only take 3 gallons. Not only is she fast, and set up perfect, but shes fuel efficient to :rollside: I decided this time out I would try and lay here over, and man once she did she just wanted to take off!!! I ran her 3 or 4 times gettin on here more and more each time. I never even got close to flooring it that will have to wait till next time :rollside:
I dont know how many boats that sit for 3 1/2 years being completely restored, and run right off the trailer like this one did. There wasnt 1 drop of water in the boat after each run. Billy B truly knows how to set these boats up, and make them work. I would like to thank him for all of his time, and hard work over the last years in getting this project to the level that it is at :)
Another big thanks to the group who worked over the weekend at Needles to get the boat ready to roll
Thanks Again to all those who helped in getting this boat done it is greatly appreciated :rollside:
Hater

460 jus getn it

I can tell you that it was trying at times. A few times I got a call that this part or that part wasn't going together just right.
I hop in my little PT and head on over to case-del-bling. investigate, mull over how we would fix it and get down to it.
The most harrowing for me working on your boat....
The stuffing box protruded past the cav plates slightly. Earl wants me to give it a little haircut. No problem Bling.
After I finish the haircut he is showing me this bitchen water outlet setup he got from Prime. A Billet two peice deal has three holes in it for water dumps, a much cleaner setup than poking an AN fitting out the side of the boat.
I laugh saying "good luck" to the guy who gets to chop a hole in the side of a boat, a boat that took a year or more to complete the design. Sucks to be him after the lucky guy eats shit when Earl has to do a repair.
Earl gives me this look and I realize just WHO he had planned to be the lucky guy.
Earl layed down a FEW layers of OH SHIT tape. Then I told him I wouldn't do it unless he layed down a FEW more. I wasn't wanting to eat crow that day.
After about 45 min of negotiating the placement of the manifold, once you make a mark you are pretty much done, I went to town.
Talk about a butt-puckering experience. I should have just called in sick.
Hats off to Earl on this build, I am honored to be a small part of it.
I can tell you hater, Earl lost a pound or two and days of sleep making sure this boat would come out exactly as it did, Perfect.
You lucky dog you.

Hey Brian, after 12 great years I finally had to retire the war wagon from duty last tuesday. I'm going to do a full resto of the boat and trailer including a new motor. You have a pretty good headstart going so lets see who gets theirs done first. BTW, Billy will not be painting this thing ( I'm re-gellin it) so don't go thinking you have lots of time.

Bad idea, I speak from experience. Buy your handpaper in bulk.

The floor and gel will be outsourced. I will take care of the bottom, rigging, trailer, motor etc.
This is the most recent pic I have of Honcho (2 weeks ago).

Cool VDV,
I like the war wagon.
"I'm regeling it." Sounded like you were going to do it yourself.
How come no paint?

I have to agree with that.
It is alot harder to do graphics "out of the mold" with gel.

Jerry, are you going with the same scheme? If so, that is going to look great with gel coat.
I have always liked a base gel coat, with paint graphics over the top of it. That is how my boat is now and if I ever redo it, I will do gel and then some paint graphics over top again.

It'll be real simple, close to original.

How many people are sick of seeing this thing on the trailer? I know I was...
.....IT FLOATS!!!!!!! :)
http://www.v-drivevideo.com/jerrysgallery/albums/userpics/10001/DSC00177.JPGAs many of you know this has been a very big undertaking for sometime. This boat is (except for a couple of very small parts ) is completely brand new. We weren't expecting this to happen ($$$$$$) but a boat that is 25 plus years old you can imagine what it needed. Now you don't have to go to this extent but when your name is on the job you have to make sure it's done right and most importantly SAFE!!!. I can't begin to tell you all how many times I was going to throw in the towel due to the stress level it was causing me and knowing that Jim was catching all kinds of hell from his so-called friends jamming him as to when this boat was going to be done. For all of you guys that have fully restored a car or boat you know what i'm talking about. And then compound that by 10,000 times because of the internent. Of course this is self inflicted because unless your standing there as it's being done you have know idea how many times we ran into a problem. Now this is a boat, not rocket science so why all the problems?. New parts....They never go together where the old ones did without some kind of ordeal. Well with the help of Brian, Allen's Fasteners, Prime Marine, Dave Sammons, Rick King, and Bobby 'B" who detailed late into the night before it left, and to Bobby "P" for volunteering to take the boat in his enclosed trailer. It finally made it. And not to mention.....no chips!!!. Then we had a couple of days of finish work at the river ( of course I thought it would be just a couple of hours). Steve "D", Steve (roaddogg4040), V-Drive Video, and GoFastRacer all chipped in and it was ready for the water. Without sounding like a wimp I got to tell you that when I was crusing the boat up river to show Janice (my wife, Jim's sister) I got goose bumps. It was finally DONE!!!. No leaks, (except for front pan seal), handled like a dream, ran bitch'in, and did I mention I was finally DONE!!!. I was actually thinking I should sell mine and buy this one. Still thinking!!!!. Jim, I know your patience was tested time and time again, (he has the patience of a pencil eraser) and I know that it was alot of $$$$$ but you now have a boat you can be proud of. Thanks for the kind words and I hope it lived up to your expectations. Have fun!!!

Oh Billy, why oh why do you set yourself up like this! I hope that you plan on retireing now, this would be a good one to end on......because if not I am sure you have thought about it....You are going to have to TOP it on the next one and that's going to be next to impossible :rollside: Honestly you and everybody involved really out did yourself's. I think the next one you do should be a straight line boat, I know this guy who has a Mako Flat bla, bla, bla.
