How do they run in Havasu? Do they do okay or are they under sized? What power and drive should I look for? The IMCO 4x4? or the SSM 6 and what power? 800 plus? Plus what is the best place to find a used one? I am looking for a pre-owned one. If you have one for sale you may send me a private message or e-mail me at truefriends22@juno.com
Thank you for the input.

all I can say is drive them all, and see what YOU like most. we had our 26 out this weekend in pretty rough water and was very impressed! Never pushed it for we had 7 people on board.. 3 being children. up on plane at 50-55 mph it was soaking up the CRAP water very well. Drive inboards and outboards to see what you prefer. After owning a twin outboard.... I'll never own a single motor high performance boat.
bottom line, it comes down to your wants and WALLET

Me personally, I would do outboards. I have no clue where i get that from, but Elim is also a great choice, it comes down to preferancehttp://***boat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=119319

Each has their perks...I suggest that you take test rides in each and decide. With a TCM 800 or equivalent, outdrives could be a problem, even with the 4x4. You will not find many, or even any with an SSM#6. It's a soft market right now, so it's possible to find quite a deal!

That is a nice boat but I don't think I would want seating in the front like that I would buy a pontoon boat or production boat. I want something that is faster then boats I've had, so putting people in the front wouldn't be safe at a 100mph I wouldn't think? Plus it just looks bad, to me.

I have another question about this boat. It said in one of the owners statements that he would keep the boat and sell it for more next year? Do these boats appreciate some how? Or would that just be banking on so many people loooking for boats at the begining of season that there would be a shortage and he could sell for more? I didn't understand that, never heard that before and these twin v's are new to me.

we love our open bow. I wouldnt put anyone in front if we going more than 50 or so. BUT it is really user friendly. Meaning you and your passengers dont have to allways be running across your bow all the time. We've had alot of people onboard that own closed bows that have said that they would do our set up next time. Make sure you drive all of these different set ups before you throw down your hard earned money, cause selling these things arent as EZ as it used to be

this is the end of the season. so no one is buying. You can find a better deal at the end of the season. Its the best time to buy IMO!
At the beginning of the season there are just more buyers.
so to answer the question, things just have to be discounted a little in order to get them to move at year end. In spring it goes back to full price.
BTW the Elim 26 is actually almost 27' (26.11') Check it out.
you got lots of choices, big block I/O (blower. no blower), twin whackas...
twin whackas run really good but they are ... whackas. ;)
A blown BBC will outrun the twin whackas until it blows up the drive.
lots of choices, so, good luck! ;)

In my opinion I think 26' is fine in Havi. I have yet to have a day that I would say was way to choppy for me.

In my humble opinion a 26 is just the rite size for Havasu, big enough to handle the slop and small enough to be responsive and exciting without monster HP.
Open bow walk through is extremely convenient for a lot of reasons, beaching, side tying and lounging just to mention a few.
Like everyone says go and drive them see what you like and what fits your apatite.
Prior to my DCB I had an Eliminator. If I were to do it over again... DCB hands down. Because I love all the jealous ribbing we receive! (really it's the quality and service)
Happy hunting!

IMHO, I'd go with a DCB F-26 with twin wackers (300's). A buddy of mine has one in Havasu and its a blast to be in, especially when its ruff out. :)
Have you seen Toby's yet, its a sweet boat, a steal at the price he is letting it go for.Click Me (http://www.***boat.net/forums/showthread.php?t=128243)

You can get a used Skater for 125K.....Havasu Cig's was a 2004 and was priced at 119K on OSO...if they come available, most 2000-2005 used Skater 28's with OB's will go for the 100 - 125K range...they hold value better then Spectre but they depreciate significantly as any other boat does..

If I may enter my opinion. If I had the choice of either a DCB or an Eliminator, I would have to go with DCB. The reason is clear. Dave has the reputation of near perfect rigging, and I PERSONALLY feel that the Eliminators are not rigged as well as they used to be. That's just my 2 cents though.

$125k is a steal for your ride...But at that price, you're killing the next guy as well. For instance, the guy who has a 2006 with a 525 listed at $119k. Lets see, $125k for yours or $119k for his, no comparison.

Exactly...over extended....and as the used market drops so will pricing on new....as the gap gets bigger between new and used...the demand for new will drop and so will prices or discount will get bigger.......just basic economics will tell you that...
Also, Toby your new price sheet means little cause your boat is used and part of the used market....as for the stereo and all the options you mention they are great to the "that particular guy" looking for that over the top bling stuff.......ie: how many do you know that go over the top to your level on your truck, rhino and boat....the % is small.....
So when you compare your 06 DCB 26 to Havasu Cig's 04 28 with the same engines....your has a bigger stereop and more bling, but his beat you by about 20mph every day of the week....so I think the $120K-$125 for either boat is a good buy but more people out there will want the extra 20mph for the same price instead of the stereo, painted pods, and sponson shower...imo.

I agree with this statement except, the Skater thingy. We specifically did not get the Skater because it had no under berth, As small as it be it was very important to the wife...
Agreed...different boats for different folks...I test drove a mid later 90's 28 Skater before buying the Mach....The Skater was no doubt a faster boat that handled well regardless of what people will say about turning capabilities versus a center sponson cat....however the boat was bare and I wanted something a little less bare....I went with the DCB twice in the following couple years...Was only pointing out when that some folks might pay a premium for speed over bling....The mach I got was around the same as the Skater...I would not have paid a significant diff for the DCB over the skater if things were different.
